White is White Challenge - Sunday Anything Goes - Birthday Cake

For my entry today into the whiteiswhite challenge, I'm sharing a photo that I took this evening as my family and I celebrated my father's birthday. Although today wasn't technically his birthday (it was earlier in the week), we always get together on Sunday afternoons/evenings for weekly suppers, so we decided it would make the most sense to wait until today. This year he is turning 58 years young! It's crazy how quickly time has passed - it seems like just yesterday that we were all celebrating his big milestone 50th birthday.

We bought a pretty plain vanilla cake with some sweet white icing and the phrase "Happy Birthday Vince" written in blue icing on top. Along the edges were some small sugary beads. Given that the cake was fairly plain, we paired it with a few scoops of chocolate and vanilla ice cream, which was a great addition.

It was a great way to spend the afternoon, and hopefully we'll get to celebrate many many more of them as the years go on!
