I was thinking earlier about all of the modern miracles involved that might extend our lives for unimaginable lengths of time going forward. We all have a lot to look forward to.
But, though the thought it morbid, there's always a chance that you could be hit by the proverbial bus. It's not a thought that a lot of us are truly willing to entertain. In my own mind, my reluctance is based in part on a will to survive. What if making a will plants the teeniest, tiniest seed in my subconscious mind that puts me in some life or death scenario where my will to fight is damaged by the knowledge that my affairs are in order. But I did some thinking and realized something important:
That was stupid of me.
Far worse is the idea that events will proceed contrary to my wishes after my death. Before, I really had nothing of value, so I didn't worry about it one way or the other. But I'm realizing now that I do have something of value: Steem.
Right now it's not worth much, but that could change in the next few months or years. Remember, if you had owned a few thousand bitcoin back when it was a dollar a coin you'd currently be a millionaire.
Also, I wanted to be able to put my will somewhere where I could be sure it wouldn't be fucked with. Somewhere where it couldn't be changed or 'lost'. I've got mixed feelings about putting my name on the blockchain but, hell, it's not like it's that hard to find out who you are after you've posted your first name and a photo.
So, without further ado, I, Justin H. Jenkins, of the City of Houston and State of Texas, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, do hereby make, publish and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all Wills and Codicils previously made by me. I bequeath my Steem Power, Steem, SBD (hereafter used interchangebly and referring to my net worth in Steem), and material possessions as follows:
I direct that all of my legally enforceable debts, funeral expenses and estate administration expenses be paid as soon after my death as may be practicable, except that any debt or expense secured by a mortgage, pledge or similar encumbrance on property owned by me at my death need not be paid by my estate, but such property may pass subject to such mortgage, pledge or similar encumbrance.
Everything hereafter refers to what remains after these debts are paid.
10% of my total worth in Steem/SBD/Steem Power goes to my mother. Enjoy it Mom. Growing up with you wasn't easy, but I always knew I was loved.
20% is to be split equally between all of my siblings (here and henceforth 'siblings' is defined as all children of my biological mother and/or father, including half siblings, and my step siblings Ryan and Kyle) except Wesley. However, any sibling may feel free to share with Wesley as they see fit (although it is my wish that this be less than 20% of their portion).
My physical stuff is to be sorted by my brother Ethan, who will receive a 2% portion extra for his trouble (and for other services listed after this).
5% is to be split amongst my blood aunts and uncles.
5% is to be split amongst my blood cousins.
5% is to be split amongst all of my nephews (including my step-nephews via my step siblings Ryan and Kyle).
3% goes to charities to be determined by a council of all my siblings (including Wesley). In the event that something can't be decided, Ethan will determine the charity.
20% goes to any blood children that I have had with or without my knowledge (Pretty sure this won't be necessary, but it's good to be prepared for as many outcomes as possible). This applies to any children I have after writing this. In the event that the child is not of age, the funds are to be placed in a trust (using the funds to pay any involved fees that are reasonable).
20% goes to a cryonic preservation fund in the event I do, indeed, die prematurely. This is to prepare for an event (albeit unlikely) where I die and Steem, a day later, is suddenly worth $8,000 a coin. This is to be enacted any time up to a month after my death and should allow for however long such an amount allows for. In the event that the funds do not allow for any level of preservation, give it to charity (added to the 3%).
5% is split between my current girlfriend (here a girlfriend is defined as a sexual relationship occurring for longer than one month) and all ex-girlfriends. They've put up with a lot through the years. These are Sara, K.M. Harris, G. Malone, A. Said, & M.J. Opong (who, annoyingly, is probably reading this).
5% goes to my friends: S. Gupta, S. Stocker, The Magana brothers, J. Levy, B. Reardon, E. Graham, J. Halliburton, M. Diaz, C. Swanson
What's Left: What to do with the remaining? Split it amongst my sibings again (this time including Wesley). Any ambiguity over the involved the identities above is to be resolved by consulting my Facebook account, Steemit, and personal journals. I'll try to leave a concrete listing in one of my journals, but if you can't find it just use your common sense.
Foul Play Clause:
If I die under any fishy circumstances (meaning it was at all a homicide or a majority vote from my siblings and mother and father determine that it's fishy), an independent investigator (or investigation team, funds allowing) is to be used from the 'What's Left' funds. If there is enough proof of foul play to result in a criminal charge, any person or persons mentioned in this will who are involved are out of the will. However, this may be counteracted with a majority sibling vote (including Wesley) that may only be vetoed by Ethan. Mistakes happen, I trust you guys to sort it.

If you guys are reading this, it means things didn't turn out how I wanted. Essentially, due to circumstances, fortune, or my own bull-headedness, I failed. That sucks. But hey, I was at least able to do something a bit useful before I left, eh? Enjoy it! However, my hope is that we're all laughing over this as we sip Mai Tai's on Mars. Fingers crossed.
Also, I'm saying it here: I would, for no reason that I can currently imagine, kill myself. If you find some so-called suicide, be incredibly suspicious. Indeed, the line between paranoia and well-preparedness is thin.
As of this writing almost all of my Steem is in Steem Power. People that want to cash out, can by having my account powered down and being paid in Steem. Otherwise, they keep their portion in and may receive their portion of each upvote made on the @jenkinrocket account.
Any disputes not here accounted for are to be settled by Ethan. Ethan, feel free to take advice from Dad as he is an experience accountant, but also keep in mind that there's a reason I put you in charge and not him.
