This error code denoting 'Windows could not search for new updates' can be solved by removing Software Distribution Folder
Open the windows explorer and go to C: drive
Browse to the folder 'Software Distribution'
Rename the folder or delete it
Now again try to update the windows and the error code 0x80070002 will be removed
Change System Time
Go to the change date and time settings
Now click on the Internet Time tab and select server time.windows.com
checkmark 'synchronize internet time server'
Press OK and restart system
The windows update error will be removed.
