PENFOLDS BIN 28 SHIRAZ 2006 VINTAGE
So..... I was having Korean BBQ in Jakarta and decided to bring this bottle of Penfolds because, well, I don't really need a reason do I? The wine was superb, a tribute to great storage for a bottle that, at the time I bought it, was not very expensive at all. With different BBQ meats the meal and wine together was awesome, the age of the wine really brought out the oakiness and the wine was so smooth yet full of flavour. Each bite was made better with the wine, as red wine should do to tender bbq'd beef.
TRINIDAD VIGIA
This Cuban robusto sized cigar is awesome. Full of bittersweet and nutty flavours that mellow through the middle and gather strength towards the end. I don't usually, actually I rarely, have a cigar with wine but the wine and the meal were so good, the mood just grabbed me and since it was a smoking restaurant, why not!? Well I can say one reason is that the flavours clashed and that's a good reason I don't usually pair wines with cigars.
CHUM CHURUM SOJU
I did make the mistake of having soju (a clear, colorless Korean potato wine: at 17 percent alcohol or 34 proof is it really still a wine?) afterwards and that didn't help none. Would not recommend cigars with soju.
