Meet Our Steem Witness With @pjau. Episode 25

• How did you first hear about steemit and what made you decide to join?

I first heard about Steemit when I was searching for a cryptocurrency based social network as I was fed up of the likes of Facebook and the rest.

• For steemians who don't know much about witnesses, can you give a layman explanation of what it is that witnesses do?

Witnesses run servers which store the blockchain information, the servers communicate with each other to check the information is the same. Each witness takes it in turn to produce a block once per 3 seconds. Some witnesses also run additional servers known as seeds which allow websites like Steemit, Busy etc to grab the data they need to display on the websites and apps.

• Being a witness takes a lot of time and energy, how do you keep a balance between this and other commitments?

Running a witness takes no time at all, it's basically on autopilot. You just need to be around to update it once in a while.

• What is one thing that most people don't know about you?

I have no idea, I'm usually pretty open.

• What makes you different from other witnesses in the steem(it) community?

Nothing really, just another person that cares enough about Steem to setup a server to help keep it decentralised and running. Even if it has been a finanacial loss since I started.

• What is the biggest challenge you have ever faced since you joined steemit?

There hasn't been one.

• As one of the witnesses what is your duty?

To help be a part of keeping Steem decentralised and to keep it running.

• What is the biggest challenge the steemit community must overcome before it goes widespread?

I honestly don't know.

• I know that you are always busy with your computer trying to help the community, apart from that, what are the other things you enjoy doing?

Watching gaming let's play's and walkthroughs on YouTube. Playing games (mostly RPGs) on Xbox and PC. Petting my snakes, cat and pug.

• Where do you see the value of steem in the next 4-5 years along with the platform?

Hopefully in the $10-20 range.

• What do you think is the possible best way to bring people to invest in steem?

Show people that this isn't a place of spam, write original quality content. Have a better social media presense. Looking at you STINC.

• What's the big plans you are working on to make steemit great?

I'm part of @steemcleaners so on a daily basis I am trying to reduce the spam and promote original content to newbies and oldies of Steem.

• Besides being invested in steem, what other crypto currencies do you fancy?

There are other cryptocurrencies? :) Ethereum, LTC, Dash. Anything cloud storage related.

• Some people have called crypto currency the internet 2.0 while other think it is just a hiccup in evolution, what are your thoughts on the future of crypto?

The future of crypto is that it has a big future. It really is the second internet, just in a testing phase currently.

• What will be the implications of government having a say in cryptocurrency world?

Centralisation and fire raining from the sky.

• If you could only vote for one witness (not yourself) who would it be and why?

@guiltyparties because he da best, he's very hard working and a good person!

• In five sentences or less, tell steemians why you deserve their vote?

I'm on Steemit 30-50 hours a week fighting spam with the @steemcleaners. I always respond to be people and try to help. I really want the best for Steem and will try my best to help push that future a long.

• If you could have a privilege to change something about steemit, what would it be?

I would probably change the name of it.
