Starting in July 2018, the Chrome browser will begin labeling sites that do not use https:// as "Not secure."
The previous policy was that the Chrome browser only showed this type of warning after someone entered text into a form on http web pages. It has been rumored or even officially stated that at some point, http web sites will not be indexed by major search engines. This means the warning messages are there to get your attention as a site owner, before they give your web site the boot, entirely.
In other words, if you don't have SSL enabled on your web sites yet, you better get your butt in gear because time is running out. Chrome has about 60% of the browser market share right now so you may want to consider the fact that, more than 1 out of every 2 site visitor will get a security warning on your site if you do not have SSL enabled.
The good news is, you can now get SSL for very cheap or even free. Check out Let's Encrypt for free SSL options or ask your web host if they already have it integrated for you.
