Since I joined forces with @derangedvisions to create a Witness Team, we have been in constant contact about how we are going to progress and develop our relevant communities we work with. It's fair to say @derangedvisions is the brains behind this team, he's coming up with some amazing ideas and some how he still finds time to run and administer his Photography Contests - check out his blog for the latest offering.
When he suggested we give something back to our Witness voters I instantly agreed, we both believe very much in supporting and encouraging users on this platform - and that made his suggestion of Steembasicincome subscriptions perfect to fit in - because the benefit of that reward is only when you post so it encourages people to keep posting to gain the benefit we have given them.
If you have yet to discover @steembasicincome , you can read the introduction to Steembasicincome and learn how it rewards regular posters with upvotes. I have entered a number of people into it before, and people have even been nice enough to add me into it. Every time an account is added to the service, the proportion of upvote it gives increases so you can add people multiple times and they will just keep getting slightly bigger upvotes from it. But you have to be an active poster to get a reward from it - because the benefit is in upvotes on your posts, so be active and post often.
The Draw
I have been desperate to find out who votes for a Witness for a long time - but never managed to find out. So I was really curious to see how this would be achieved, turns out the answer was right under my nose all the time and I never even saw it! On https://steemian.info/witnesses next to a Witness you have the following
The green thumbs up approves the Witness, the red thumbs down disapproves them. And the black figure with a plus shows all the lovely Witness voters when you press it. How did I miss this? Really I refresh this page multiple times a day checking to see when I expect my next block to come round (so I can fuss over the Witness server just before the block is due to make sure it is all working perfectly)
That's just a little snapshot of the total voters, as of tonight the Deranged c0ff33a Witness has 231 voters - that is worked out by copying all the names from https://steemian.info/witnesses and pasting them into an excel spreadsheet. Each name then has a number - so I can randomly select two numbers from the range 1 to 231 to receive Steembasicincome shares.
Making use of the Official Random Number Generator we enter the range and generate a Random Number

The greatest challenge we face on Steemit is getting our posts seen, I have always believed the simplest and best value way of doing this is by commenting on the blog posts of others, the more you engage people and interact with them the greater the chance they will visit your own blog and return the favour.
