Building good working relationships isn't always easy, especially when you're surrounded by people who think and work differently than you. At first, I thought it would just take patience, but I’ve come to realize that it actually takes effort—a lot of it. From holding back my pride to adjusting how I communicate, it’s a daily commitment to understanding, not just being understood.
There are moments when it feels like I’m trying too hard or getting nowhere. But when I take a step back, I remind myself that this isn’t about winning arguments or proving who’s right. It’s about building a team that works, even when it’s made up of very different people. I’m still learning how to find that balance: staying true to my values while respecting others' perspectives.
It's tiring sometimes, yes. But I believe it’s worth it. Because every effort I put in today, no matter how small, adds up to something bigger in the long run. That’s how real teamwork is built: not on perfect harmony, but on the willingness to keep trying even when it’s difficult.
As the saying goes, “Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.” — Henry Ford
So I’m holding on to hope. Hope that one day, we’ll look back at all the growing pains and realize we were building something solid all along.
And until that day comes, I’ll keep showing up. Not just for the work, but for the team we’re still becoming.
