Steemit is a fantastic place to put out quality content and build a strong community of contributors.
Today marked the first time that the number of people following me was the same as the number of people I was following. In three weeks time, I've built great relationships with people and had an incredible opportunity to put content out there. What's more, it's too easy to put information out there and engage with others so that people will see your work.

With that being said, as a contributor myself, I understand the vital importance of having a well-written, well-thought out piece for consumption by users here and elsewhere. Moving forward from my comments on a post about capitalizing on Steem, I've decided to offer my services as a proofreader for Steem dollars (SD).
There are a number of benefits to hiring me as an independent proofreader:
- Frees up your time as a content creator Proofreading can be a tedious second process when creating content, and sourcing the task out to me can free you, as a creator, to build up more content.
- Provides objective feedback For every post I put up, with almost no exception, I do at least three passes to ensure I don't have any glaring spelling or grammatical errors. We have a built-in confirmation bias for our work that allows us to gloss over mistakes that would otherwise be obvious; we've already written them, so surely our coherent thoughts turned out correct, right? A second pair of eyes helps immensely.
- Can provide structural feedback I won't force any changes on your work, but if there is a phrase, sentence, or passage that might function a little bit better with some editing or rearrangement, I will respectfully pass that idea on to you to see if it meets your needs.
My rate for proofreading and editing work is going to be 1 SD per 500 words. If the word count for a particular post you're sending me is greater than the next 500-word block, it'll be rounded up to the next dollar. So, for example, if you want me to proofread/edit a post and it's 590 words, it would cost 2 SD. Update: @jasonstaggers has given me an excellent idea. I'll be willing to discount the proofreading/editing fee by 50% after the first Steem dollar in exchange for a promotional advertisement at the bottom or top of your article.
In terms of proof of work and how payment will work, here's how I propose handling sending your material to me for proofreading, what my rate is, and how I intend to provide you a verifiable copy of your material prior to your payment.
- Send me your material in a .doc or .odt file. If you want to use a different kind of document type, ensure that it's readable in OpenOffice Writer.
- I will make edits for grammar and spelling, as well as include and highlight possible editorial changes.
- I will send you a copy of the work with the edits in a password-protected, non-editable PDF for your approval, along with the password and the bill for the service based on word count.
- If the changes are satisfactory, send me the amount billed via the Steemit wallet, and I will send you an editable copy with the approved changes, which you can then copy and paste into Steemit directly.
If you're interested in hiring me to proofread and/or edit your work prior to submission, send me an email at glorybound87@gmail.com. Thanks for your consideration, and keep on Steeming!
