Trans Rights As A Lead Balloon For Social Rights
Before I write this out I wanted to comment that as I still believe that it is simple to be accommodating and tolerant that I tried my best to use the proper wordage and nouns while addressing trans individuals.
I believe that trans individuals and rights have been pushed into progressive and social groups by competing groups who have an interest in stalling social progress. Progressives as a whole and particularly queer activists, feminist activists (and even now aboriginal groups with the cultural appropriation of two-spirited status) and others who have been forced by their social conscious to pick up a fringe group whom are seen as laughable by most of society and whose discussion often becomes the focal point for these groups (goaded by antagonists, media and trans individuals themselves). This has acted as a lead balloon, monkey wrench and poison in the well for activists group.
I am a feminist who believes that gender (roles tied to gender, affect, personality, social mobility) is an abstract that is best reduce rather than separating the idea of gender from sex in order to best promote the ability of women to become socially mobile, choose their own role in society and act outside of prescribed roles and personality. Trans individuals on the other hand seek to separate the idea of gender from sex (or reduce the abstract of sex) and from their example enforce gender norms from the affect, personality and roles that they strive towards. Because of this I feel that trans groups harm the ability of feminists to move forward.
Other harm to progressive groups come through the division created among these groups from their inclusion, the constant antagonism towards progressive groups that repeatedly force trans rights as the focus of discussion preventing discussion on other topics, the harmed relations and views of social groups by the mainstream through the inclusion of a "fringe group" and, in general, the absolute shit show surrounding the topic.
How was this done? It seems possible that interest groups have tried conditioning men and women who fell outside of their roles and personality for their sex (or gender assigned at birth) into adopting a gender opposite that which was assigned. Rather than these men and women living outside of the norm of how their gender should act and helping to erode the notion of gender, they have "switched" genders and through their example of how they act stereotypical to their "chosen" gender, further perpetuate stereotypical gender norms. Trans individuals have also, sadly, been dehumanized and scapegoated, used as an example of what not to be with some very unfortunate stigma surrounding them, used as a third class citizen to other.
So what's the solution if trans individuals have been intentionally conditioned and their rights/interest groups intentionally tacked onto various progressive groups with the goal of harming their progression? If the needs of the many (minority groups) outweigh the needs of the few (trans individuals) it seems that progressives should be made to see that trans rights and discussion should, at the least, not be constantly made the center of discussion and possibly even excluded from certain mainstream activist groups in order for those groups to gain traction on women and LGB rights.
In short, trans individuals have been intentionally created as a third class to act as a lead balloon for social progression.
How do progressive groups respond?
