OK, so you've just arrived here on Steemit and you're looking around, wondering which way to go.
You've been blogging for a while and you have a notion that you've got this because... how different can it be? Right?
No.
Sorry.
To start with, Steemit has been around for a couple of years now. A lot of improvements have been made and though some believe it's still a little 'clunky' (not me, I hasten to add) there are a number of things readers and curators have become used to.
Pictures as well as text.
There's a little clickable thing at the bottom of your blog as you're writing it. That's what you click if you want to put in a picture (HINT: You do!) Find your picture - or go to Google and make a search for an image (use 'labeled for reuse' in the tools to keep you on the right side of everyone). Either save that image to your computer, or, even faster and more convenient, copy the image and paste it direct into your blog!
Sometimes it doesn't work, but that's no biggie, you can save it and use it from your computer if you need to.
Then there's what to write about...
Well, I really can't help you with that.
Write what you know. Write about what interests you - someone will feel the same way, I almost guarantee it!
Take a little time to figure out the tags you're going to need. You're allowed 5!
Don't abuse the tagging system by going right for the most lucrative tags and plonking your blog in there, you'll get found out and told off!
DO NOT PLAGIARISE! -
No, not even once! Not even if you think no one will read your blog anyway. Not even if you think no one will care.
Don't spam, ask for upvotes or leave meaningless replies just on the off-chance of grabbing an upvote.
Vote for it if you liked what you read!
That one is important, so I'll say it again!
Vote for it if you liked what you read!
It doesn't matter if you don't have much to give with your upvote, at this moment in time, it really is the thought that counts!
Make your own squad of people you follow and support them, encourage them and upvote them. The time will come when you are ALL bigger and your votes will mean more... not so long after that, you'll have newbies asking for your upvote because you have so much and they have so very little.
When that day comes, give them the link to this post...
Happy blogging!
Oh... and one more thing...
Cite your sources - YES! All of them!
Guess where I got all the pictures from... that's right, Google, free to use search
