I am a Volunteer Of PRCS and living in Pakistan. Many of my friends are married. Other friends my age are engaged. But I am alone. I have no engagement. I have no wife. I have no children. There's just me. I am an only child in my household. I have cousins. And I even have brothers and sisters in a different home.
My family is not rich. My job is not impressive. I live in a region of Pakistan where arranged marriage is common. I know in the West arranged marriage is a very foreign concept.
In my culture marriage comes first and love follows. My culture springs from my Islamic faith. My faith values the purity of women, the sanctity of women. Therefore men and women, unless they are relatives, do not interact freely.
As I don't have an impressive job or come from a rich family, marriage prospects are difficult. One must learn to enjoy being alone , enjoy life being alone. Until your circumstance changes.
I have learned that life can be very full even without a wife or maybe because I don't have a wife. I am not tied down. I am free to work on things that give me enjoyment. I am free to work with the poor and the disabled in my area And i serf as a volunteer. My fulfillment comes from feeding the poor. I am free to help my grandfather who needs assistance to get to his doctor's appointments.
I am free to travel with my mother to weddings and to assist my father and his shop. I am alone, but I am not really alone. I am surrounded by the people i love doing the things that I love. I love bringing a smile to someone's face. I love my grandfather's words of Thank You. I love being near my father. So even though I am not married and technically alone.
My life is very full!
