It's just around the corner! My ~April Writing Madness~ begins tomorrow!
Missed my previous posts and have no idea what this madness is? ~ one of my New Years Resolutions was to publish a book this year. I published one in 2019, another in 2020, and then slacked off last year and didn't publish a thing. 😱 That slacktivity is not conducive to a successful authorship.
AND, I wanted to publish this year's book in mid-September. To that end, I need to write-write-write NaNoWriMo-style during the month of April then perfect my work and attempt to market the silly thing over the next few months.
I was originally going to speed-write Book Two of the Forgotten Prophecy series I've been working on, but that thing is depressing and makes me cry and I wanted something a little more cheerful and upbeat.
Introducing: Joey and Jenny! The ridiculous odd-couple I created thanks to the Five Minute Freewrite challenge here on the chain. I first came up with Joey back in 2018 and a few months later I at last gave a name to the character he had been traumatising for so long: Jenny. Before that fateful day most of their interactions were in first person; now that she had a name all of their interactions moved to the third person.
Two years ago I had the urge to write a proper novel with them and started writing a little bit during #Maynia. I didn't get very far. Now I'm going to finish what I started and get their story out, every day on-chain for the entire month of April! Woo!
- I'll be using the daily #freewrite prompt to help write each daily "part"
- each daily part will (hopefully) be around 1700-2000 words, but even if I have a bad day... a mere 100 words is more than I had before, right?
- I'll be posting in the #scholarandscribe community (@hive-199275)
- and I'll be using the #writingmadness tag to keep track.
If you would like to participate in challenging yourself with writing a novel during this month, I invite you to also use the #writingmadness tag if posting about it. 😊 I will check it out!

📝 A Quick Blurb 📚
Genre: immature adult comedy, reverse coming-of-age
Warning: irreverent, offensive humour
Jenny is a young lady in her mid-20's who finds herself out of work, out of home, and out of luck. An old friend from school has invited her to stay at his house until she gets back on her feet, but she just can't seem to land on them.
Every job opportunity she finds goes spectacularly wrong. The Great Fungus is spreading across the world and consuming all in its path. Then, to top it off, a solar flare renders electricity a thing of the past.
Faced with the end of the world as she knows it, Jenny has a choice. Will she embrace this apocalyptic madness... or will she, too, be consumed by the fungus?

See you tomorrow with Day One of the story! 📚📝😊
