“Meditation is how you convince yourself that you’re making a great journey while remaining safely in place. It’s easier to braid our legs like pretzels than to brave uncharted waters. That’s the fraud we eagerly subscribe to, and why we search within our comfort zone for what lies far beyond it.”
-Jed McKenna
His point isn’t that meditation is bad or unhelpful. It’s that literally anything, even good things (especially good things) can be hijacked by the ego and used as a tool for avoidance rather than awakening.
If you are asleep, you won’t awake by pursuing peace and safety. Awakening is on the far side of a personal apocalypse.
