I have known about @furiouspete123 for about 3 years or so when he did a collab vlog with Roman Atwood. In general I like him and his content centers around eating a ton and lifting weights two things I'm into.
He joined Steemit / DTube a couple of months ago right around the same time the @hodgetwins joined. This was a big deal for sure and there were of course the worries that these type of Internet celebrities would possibly crowd out people who had mainly focused on building up a following here on the STEEM blockchain.
Over time I have observed @furiouspete123 to see if a few things happened.
- If he would cash out his earnings.
- If he would start voting for anyone or engage with the following here.
- If he would tell his YouTube following about DTube
Well he mainly powered up his earnings. He doesn't really vote for anyone else. His voting power is usually close to 100% https://steemd.com/@furiouspete123 and at this time he hasn't told his YouTube following about DTube for the STEEM blockchain that I know of. He did make a video talking about telling his following over on YouTube and what the right time to do that is.
My Ultimate Feelings
A great thing can be said about visibility. At least somehow people are hearing about DTube and the STEEM blockchain. That goes pretty far just knowing that and he has tried to make original content for this platform shows effort. He might not feel like he has the time to really engage with the audience and spend time voting for people but personally as someone who has been here awhile I look at that a decent amount if a person is full engaging with their voting patterns.
Him coming from YouTube he might not be used to really giving back to his audience in that way. As big as he is on YouTube you don't have much time to really comment back and there is no ability to upvote comments or any of that. So in that respect he isn't used to being able to reward his viewers but I would imagine that he would have sort of figured that piece out at this point since he is upvoting his own posts and I'm sure he sees the reward value goes up when he does that. He would have likely tied two and two together at this point.
Also everyone is someone waiting on him to mention DTube to his YouTube audience but in some respects he is probably scared about YouTube demonetizing all his stuff and he is probably also worried with the lower payouts that suddenly people will act like the platform isn't any good or something. All those people have already on-boarded to YouTube but to try to get them to come over here could be challenging. The least he could do is say something about it though in my opinion. He might be worried YouTube will look at it and see how he is venting his anger about YouTube over here and then say "I'll show you." and demonetize a bunch of his stuff.
It could all end up being kind of a wash. If the prices are low and he stops posting and doesn't really want to tell his YouTube following then it will be kind of like seeing a celebrity in an airport. Kind of cool to mention it to a friend or family member but nothing that is going to change your life or necessarily do anything positive for you.
What Would Be The Best Outcome
If @furiouspete123 became so furious at YouTube that he decided he was going to take a $100,000 and power it up and then announce to everyone that he is rolling out his content on here first and rewarding his viewers with upvotes he would really build something here in my mind. Now I don't know if he has that much money to invest in this platform and that might not be in his mind that that would make sense. At this point he probably feels that he has already invested so much time and energy into equipment and building a following that he doesn't need to inject tons of capital into something to be able to get a payout.
Do I think that will happen? No ....... I think he will post and overtime the newness of it will wear off and people on here are mainly wanting something in return. It is like 99% content creators. We don't really have the casual viewers who are super interested in what we have to say which is very strange in a lot of ways when I think about it. Steemit has been best for howto guides for crypto currency related stuff. I honestly think that has been the most impactful thing so far that someone searching for an answer is finding here. It has mainly been to PC here for a lot of entertainment to flourish.
What do you think? Will guys like @furiouspete123 eventually bring tens of thousands more people to this platform?
