Now myself the majority of what I do online revolves around Social Media. At this time primarily Twitter and my website dedicated towards social media advocacy. We advocate engagement of your audience, as so many truly don't use social media correctly. Perhaps this is one of the reasons I fell in love with Steemit.com

Now to the purpose of the blog, with great social presence comes great social responsibility. Unfortunately in the last week there was a perfect example of this on one of the major social media outlets that personally I find reprehensible. Even if you don't, I'm not hear to argue the morality of the video, more the impact a said video could have on those that find it in bad taste. And more importantly the impact this and videos of it's ilk can have on the followers of the content creator. And in this case the followers of this person are on the young side to say the least, thus making the need to review content for more than just sound and other less important details all the more necessary. It's something I use in every day life in one on one conversations, the filter between my brain and mouth. An immensely powerful tool to be used in all of social media, especially video based content.
Now before I even mention this person I'm sure many of you already know who I'm talking about. I'm not going to fill this blog with any pictures of the actual video. A simple search will bring up a ton of content on what occurred, plus I feel it would be in bad taste. I'm only going to include pic and his "apology" video for you to one make your own determination on the level of messing up this creator did on the bad taste front. But again this is to illustrate the need of taking a moment before each post to think of the potential impact this could have. Not just the number of views, or sales it could convert into. And while I'm using a youtube content creator as an example, this should extend to all forms of media. That ranges from twitter, blogs, etc...heck especially your own website. So let's all take a moment before we hit the post button to review our work for the "Social Impact" not just spelling and such.
Onto the nefarious individual. The content creator I speak of is Logan Paul. Here's his link for his Vlog channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCG8rbF3g2AMX70yOd8vqIZg
Apparently Mr. Paul thought it not only a good idea to trespass in the "forbidden" Aokigahara forest in Japan which is known for the number of suicides that take place there, he decided to post to his youtube a video he shot of a man who had recently committed suicide. Now just filming this person was in bad taste, but apparently Mr. Paul and his cohorts decided to interact with the body and the general way they carry on has angered many many people. Of course the fallout from this video was to expected, but unexpected and almost as alarming situations derived from this.
The first was the way his "brain washed" followers lept to his defense, even though Mr. Paul urged in his apology video that they do not defend him about this. They have so bought into him that they were even threatening those that were denouncing the video. The second additional light brough onto Mr. Logan was the videos that led up to the infamous one throughout Japan have caused many to label him as racist and culturally insensitive.
Again I leave what you actually think of what he did up to you. I did not make this blog to judge or to cast a bad light on him. Only to try to bring some good lessons out of a horrible situation. I just urge you all to consider the impact of anything you put out into the world, not just online, but in your everyday life as well.
