Your second attempt sounded so much more methodical, and it's interesting how preparation changed the whole outcome. That kind of tactical thinking is fun to read about.

The part where you turned the enemies and clickers against each other is brilliant. I sometimes do similar thing in Days Gone and its fun seeing the enemies tearing each others up.
