Ideas to protect BLURT from abuse.
#1 Limit account farming.
account farming is one of the BIGGEST dangers to Blurt.
Imagine someone has a BLURT account with even a small amount of BLURT Power. Let's say they hate BLURT for some reason and want to become a whale unfairly and dump the market. They could simply set up bot code to spam messages to their account.
THEN they could bot upvotes to every comment. Of course theres NO flagging on BLURT so ... they can farm away.
Then imagine if they could buy new accounts for say ... 3 BLURT and they get a small delegation. Then WHAMMO they have 2 accounts to bot TWICE the comment spam farming!
If you can sms farm BLURT accounts or something like this ... GAME OVER mario dies.
#2 A Dlease fork for BLURT is a HORRIBLE idea.
Imagine the above spam farm idea plus using your liquid BLURT {from spamming} to lease more BLURT power.
The only reason Leasing works so well on hive is because people flag you if you post too often. **On blurt you can post how often ... isn't it once every 3 seconds? Imagine botting that without fear of flagging.

#3 Discourage alts.
Remember that other clone of steem {WEKU} that never really panned out because it took too long to list? One thing I loved about WEKU is there was a culture of disfavoring people who had alt accounts. A surprising amount of people followed along with this even though it wasn't a rule.
#4 Encourage curation.
If new users with high quality blogs get boosted by enough whales: There will be less threat from spamming.
#5 Discourage botting.
Good luck with this one LOL eye roll but you can at least discourage people from botting certain things. You can refuse to curate anyone who bots comments or runs bid bots or anything like that. You can make policies of a responsable BLURT user which includes responsible voting.
In my opinion will a front end devoid of flags ever work?
Answer: Only if quality blogs can be curated much more that the average spam farmer.
That might involve clever thinking from devs, witnesses and BLURT admin. Things COULD go horribly wrong I believe.
