I posted a few days ago about how I've been working my way through @sidwrites' list of 15 Ultimate Tips & Challenges For Every Hive User. I'd started by expanding my Hive boundaries. Tip #2 goes hand in hand with this. It encourages getting out there and exploring new Hive communities.
I have to confess, the whole communities thing was a bit of a grey area for me. I kind of knew what they were, but to be honest I'm still not 100% sure how they work. If you have a good guide the covers the nitty-gritty of posting in communities, please leave me a link in the comments below :-)
What I have figured out is that if I subscribe to ones covering topics I'm interested in, then I can view them via the Peakd interface and find both excellent content I might like AND potential new people to follow!
While I was exploring and considering communities, @theycallmedan came out with his #HiveCommunities - Communities Discovery Initiative challenge. So this post is also my response to that challenge.
I set a goal of subscribing to 3 new communities by Friday September 11th.
Here's my three:
Community #1 - Skyroad.Me
Minecraft! I love playing on this server.
Yes, I may be a middle-aged woman but I find breaking blocks and building things in Minecraft a real joy, and the perfect way to unwind after work.
@immanuel94 runs all kinds of cool competitions on the Skyroad.me Minecraft server, and you can even earn Hive for playing. Subscribe to the community to keep up with server news, to hear about upcoming competitions and results.
Community #2 - NeedleWorkMonday
I love seeing the handiwork posted on this community. A someone who likes to sew, knit, crochet, there's a lot here to pique my interest. Back in my early days on this blockchain (or more accurately it's predecessor) there were a handful of people regularly posting this kind of content and I was always eager to read it. It's so great that we now have communities where this content can be gathered and showcased.
I haven't posted anything there yet, but looking forward to writing about a few of my recent sewing projects.
Community #3 - Ladies of Hive
This one was pretty cool to see pop up this week. One of the roles of communities is to allow space for people to meet, connect, and discuss shared interests and experiences. I think having a space such as this for women on Hive is a great idea. I'm already seeing a lot of the great women I follow on here popping up their intro posts to the group :-)
Until next time,
@Sammie
