The Knights Templar and Johannite Order

"At the time of the foundation of the Order of the Temple(A. D. 1118), the Grand Pontiff (Johannite Order) was named Theocletes; he was acquainted with Hugo de Payens, and initiated him into the mysteries and privileges of his Church, promising him the Sovereign Priesthood and supreme government, and finally designating him as his successor." - Rosicrucian Brotherhood V.1 N.4 October 1907
