I speak to you of the afternoon

I speak to you of the afternoon carved in stone,
that should be an omen but flows instead,
from the sea where my boat went down,
at the threshold of every adversary,
stabbed by bare misfortune,
by enemies pierced through with spears,
all the weathered souls who watch you and strip you
with eyes lurking beneath petals of rage,
with which they clothed your body in mineral and armor.

I speak to you of the swans that play in the afternoon,
and bite so that I won’t bite the bitter chalice,
which, in the light, proclaims its overflowing cruelty,
like fire on the summit from which the echo rises.
And it is your name that burns to ignite the stars,
and your dress so long it shrouds my fear,
like a promise of scimitar and wind,
the curve of a guitar, scattering sound,
executor of a hero who wounds the flesh,
moaning in the night of cavernous escape.

I pursue you, girl. I proclaim a reckoning.
I declare what we were in the womb of a being
where you once dwelled, and I cradled you in my arms,
downy with certainties, axe of my wooden trunk.

Clinging to the syllables the wind carries, we pulse,
and we shall be nothing, one without the other,
fallen from a moon of governed necropolises.

Take me to where the hidden verb is true,
where the corolla born of your womb is proclaimed,
the seed in the soil, the ambushed pubis.
Take me and drink me in one gulp, false Elisha.
Stone of my stone, likeness of that wind
that eclipsed the planets where we walked alone—
your shrapnel, I the target; your storm, I the desert,
searching for my arm, sedition dwelling in my flesh,
like a promise, prisoners forever,
of a search suspended over our lives.

Yo te hablo de la tarde labrada en la piedra

Que ha de ser un presagio pero es fluido

del mar donde quedó mi barca a pique

a la puerta de todos los adversarios,

acuchillados por la desdicha desnuda,

de los enemigos atravesados por la lanza,

toda la gente ajada que te observa y desviste

con ojos acechando entre pétalos de rabia

con que vistieron tu cuerpo de mineral y coraza.

Yo te hablo de los cisnes que juegan en la tarde

Y muerden para que yo no muerda el cáliz amargo

que en la luz promulga su crueldad desbordada

como el fuego en la cumbre de donde emana el eco

y es tu nombre el que arde para prender estrellas

y es tu vestido tan largo que me cubre el espanto

como una promesa de cimitarra y viento

curva de guitarra, derrochando sonidos,

albacea de un héroe que lacera los cuerpos

quejándose en la noche de fuga cavernaria.

Te persigo muchacha, te promulgo un entuerto

enuncio lo que fuimos en el vientre de un ser

donde residías y te acuné en el regazo

vilano de certezas, hacha de mi tronco arbóreo.

Asidos a las sílabas que el viento trae latimos

y ya no seremos nada, el uno sin el otro

caídos de una luna de Necrópolis gobernadas.

Llévame donde sea cierto el verbo que se oculta,

que promulga la corola nacida de tu vientre,

la semilla en la tierra, el pubis emboscado.

Llévame y bébeme de un sorbo Elisea falseada,

piedra de mi piedra, símil de aquel viento

que eclipsó los planetas donde anduvimos solos

tu metralla, yo diana, tu tormenta, yo desierto,

búsqueda de mi brazo, sedición que habita mi cuerpo

como una promesa, prisioneros para siempre

de una búsqueda pendiendo de nuestras vidas.
