I hope everyone had a great Christmas or whatever holiday or observation is yours at this time of year as we head toward 2023. I was planning a quiet Christmas Day. It turned into a VERY quiet Christmas as I was without power for 50 hours starting on Friday evening and ending late Christmas day.
The power went out in the middle of a powerful winter blizzard with high winds and snow. Temps were about 10F (-12C). My house got down to 25F (-4C) literally freezing the place. My 2 feline buddies and I kept warm hunkered down under warm blankets.
That may seem like an awful experience, and yes it was no walk in the park. BUT, while I waited safely (although cold) in my home, thousands of power crews, first responders, road crews worked through their holidays to rescue travelers, take them to warming centres where community volunteers helped feed and look after them, clear roads (some 5-6 feet deep in snow), risk their lives up on buckets trying to fix power lines, tending to injured from accidents … and the list goes on.
I’m grateful to all of them. Today the cleanup continues. AND yes I’m late posting the recap.

Don’t worry if you’ve never taken part in something like this. You’re welcome to just jump in and listen until you are comfortable. If you want to test it out, we’ll always help people to get started. It’s a friendly bunch.
