Not sure about you but when every new year rolls into view i get this overwhelming boost of fresh start year energy, the shops sell off all their hyped wares and so i eat my christmas and new year foods in the first two weeks of jan, while the world gorged, i worked.
Having been part of a number of ‘get togethers’ on mspwaves over the last couple of months it’s obvious where the problems lay and what we can do about them, so it’s now a time of adaptation rather than just keep on talking about the same old things, time to deep dive and share with the audience looking and coming in about the platform we’ve known and loved for the last two years in the good times and the bad.
Flogging, ‘crypto’, ‘blockchain’ and even mentioning ‘bitcoin’ won’t do it anymore, it got muddled together with the rest of the race of math algorithms out there wanting to up sell and hype their particular codebase and ‘community’ — i get it, you have a sense of loyalty because your a bag holder of something maybe you wanted to flip at some point.
If you decided to make a home on steem it for other reasons (or additional reasons) apart from the financial rewards thou you would have first hand seen the power of the chain when crypto-kitties came out and how we saw first hand how saturated that become when it did on the ethereum network — i guess you can say we saw where all the powerful features of the steem blockchain were in those moments.
Moments that make you stay around, intrigued that you might have backed the right horse and actually learned a lot about decentralized in the process, the people it tends to attract, what it’s like to be back on the net in the Wild West where the comfy one url location of your favorite centralized platform keeps you nice and safe and cosy while slowly sharing your data behavior patterns with the whole world while making money from it. Classy.
So you see, that’s why, even on the 1st of the month of a new year, I’m here, still plugging away and recording little courses about the stuff I’ve learned over the last few years and how to talk about that in the last few months — now I’ve got a good handle on that and what we need to move forward i can activate.
Of course I’ve had to diversify my time between paid client work and reindex the mental hard drive of life in the process, there has never been a better time to consider moving your life to an open database in which you can build your own little project/home/community on top of and have complete access to your data —- in fact there is a magic in this being all there for consumption as other platforms and dapps can interact with it and display it on their front ends and who knows you might get tokens from some project for you involvement.
Heck, it’s more than any of the other social platforms ever gave us right? In 2019 maybe it’s time to start really looking for alternatives to the centralized platforms you got used to for the last decade and it’s time to put a white line underneath all of it and reboot what you want to use digital for heading towards the year 2020.
