Phenibut is a drug that is consistently getting more popular. The drug was first discovered by russian scientists and is still prescribed in Russia for anxiety or insomnia. In most of the world phenibut is legal and cheap. But what is phenibut, what are it's effects, and what should you know before taking it? This guide will answer all your questions.
What is phenibut?
Phenibut is a nootropic drug that works on GABA receptors like alcohol and benzodiazepines. But while alcohol and benzos work on the GABA-A receptors, phenibut works on the GABA-B receptors. This is one of the reasons that with phenibut you get some of the effects from benzodiazepines while still having sharp thoughts and a clear mind.
The effects and benefits of phenibut
Now first it is important to say the effects are very dose-dependent, and also differs from person to person. At smaller doses phenibut mostly have therapeutic effects, for example improved sleep and reduced anxiety. At higher doses the effects are more recreational with a slight euphoria. A list of some of the effects you can expect:
- Relaxation, but with a clear mind.
- Confidence.
- Great reduction of anxiety and nervousness.
- Music appreciation - music sounds incredible.
- Increased libido.
- Focus and motivation.
How to take phenibut
The average dose of phenibut is around 2 grams. For first timers I usually recommend taking a full dose to really experience the effects fully. The first few times with phenibut feel amazing, and some even feel an almost MDMA-like euphoria and well-being. The powder can be dissolved in water, or wrapped up and 'bombed'. You should never attempt to snort or IV phenibut as it is an amino acid and doing so can hurt you. Here are some general rules you should follow:
- Don't eat 2-3 hours before ingesting for more effective absorbing.
- Don't eat for 1-2 hours after dosing.
- Wait 5-6 hours before you consider redosing. Phenibut can take a while to kick in.
- Experiment with your doses, but go up slowly. It is not recommended to take more than 3 grams generally.
- Don't take more than 1-2 times a week.
- Don't mix with cns depressants like alcohol.
Combining with a stimulant can be a good idea, I prefer caffeine.
