I really fancied something sweet last night, but I didn’t want cake. I forgot I had these in the cupboard, so I had them with a glass of milk. Here’s what I thought of the Hobnobs.

I do love a Hobnob and I was glad to see my husband thought of me when he picked them up a few weeks ago. I’ve never seen Sticky Toffee flavoured Hobnobs before. They sounded really nice. When I opened the packet, I did get a strong sweet smell come out. I couldn’t say it was toffee I could smell, but it definitely smelled strong and sweet. I took out my first Hobnob. It had that really nice oaty texture and taste to the biscuit and it had that lovely chocolate layer on top. The only thing is, I didn’t get much sticky toffee flavour at all. I don’t know if it was a mind game, but I also expected these to be a bit chewy rather than snap like a biscuit. I mean they did taste darker and sweeter than the normal Hobnobs, but I wouldn’t say these tasted like sticky toffee at all.
I think these would have been better if they contained tiny pieces of sticky dates. I definitely think this would have enhanced the flavour and texture I was after. I really didn’t get the sticky toffee taste though. I think I will stick to the normal Hobnobs next time.
