It’s not that I’ve stopped caring about Pokémon GO. It’s just that I’ve become more intentional about how I spend my time. These days, I’m focused on getting the most out of each moment, and that often means less time checking into the game, spinning PokéStops, or planning routes around Gyms. Even though I remain active physically, I’ve found it harder to align those fitness goals with dedicated gameplay like I once did.
Now, I mostly check in during Community Day events — and only when the timing conveniently lines up with time I’ve already set aside to be outdoors. The good news is that the game’s notifications still do their job well, keeping me loosely in the loop. Just recently, I caught a shiny early in the event after only a handful of catches — a nice reward without needing to commit a large block of time.
I sometimes wonder how many shinies or event opportunities I’ve missed in recent months, but truthfully, I have no regrets. Pokémon GO gave me years of enjoyable gameplay and helped me stay active, especially during times when motivation was harder to come by. But now, it's more of a background hobby — a passive companion rather than a daily habit.
And who knows? Maybe I’ll dive back in more deeply someday. But for now, I’m comfortable letting it be something that adds a spark when it fits, without the pressure to keep up.
