As someone who’s enjoyed playing Call of Duty with friends over the years, there’s something truly awe-inspiring about watching professionals perform at such a high level. The way they move, coordinate, and execute strategy in real time is nothing short of elite. It’s a masterclass in teamwork and reflex, and it always reminds me that no matter how decent I think I am at the game, there’s a massive difference between casual and competitive.
What made this event even more special was its location. Being based in South Florida, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity when the CDL brought the action closer to home. I’ve been to other events before, so I knew what to expect in terms of energy, production quality, and the intense fandom — but this time was different. Not only did I notice a much younger crowd (which made me feel like one of the oldest attendees in the building), but I also had the opportunity to share the experience with my daughter.
Attending together added a completely new layer to the day — not only was it fun and engaging, but it also became one of those unforgettable moments that bind generations. Watching the matches, exploring the venue, and immersing ourselves in the world of competitive gaming was something I’ll always remember. It’s not every day you get to enjoy something you love while introducing it to someone else who’s just starting to explore the space.
South Florida continues to grow as a hub for sports and entertainment, and we’re making it a point to enjoy every opportunity that comes our way. From traditional sports to eSports, the memories we’re building together are worth every ticket and every cheer.
Looking forward to the next event already — maybe I’ll even start brushing up on my skills again (just don’t ask me to 1v1 any of the pros).
