The other day I went to the market and I found one of those instant soups that pretend to be ramen. It caught my attention, because I had never seen this kind of soup around here, so I bought a couple of packages.
The truth is that I had never tasted one of these soups in my life, and that was one of the reasons why I bought them. I prepared one of the packages, just as it came, to see how it tasted and I was a little disappointed. In view of the disappointment, I started thinking about how I could improve it, so that's what I'm going to talk about today in my post, about how I improved an instant soup.
The ingredients I used for this recipe were very simple. We all have these ingredients at home so you can follow the recipe with me.
1 tomato
1 egg
1 carrot
1 potato
1 sprig of chives
1 Package of instant soup.
As I told you, I prepared one of the packages but it left me a little disappointed because I thought it would be richer, I don't know, I expected more. It's simply a noodle soup with a certain flavor of chicken broth.
But of course, you can't ask too much from something you would normally make to get by, it's just something that can leave your stomach full and quite satisfied when you don't have time to spend an hour in the kitchen preparing a good dinner or a good lunch.
The point is that it is something simple, tasty and can be prepared quickly. However, perhaps I am not the only one who has never prepared an instant soup, so I will briefly tell you how to prepare it.

I boiled water and then poured it into a bowl, where I would eat my noodle soup. They are instant noodles so in the hot water they become soft in a matter of minutes, no need to wait too long, hence the name, instant soup...
Although I bought it to see what it tasted like, I decided to improve it, so I did the same process as before, I poured the noodles into the hot water and then added the magic powder, mixing it all together.
I remember that with the first one I prepared I thought it was going to be thicker, with more flavor, I don't know, something different. But no, it was a pretty simple soup. Maybe I had too many expectations...
As you can see, the dish does not have the best presentation. A rather clear broth with noodles that, yes, taste very good. I wanted to give it more weight, more flavor, better presentation, so I started preparing the ingredients I mentioned above.
First I boiled the potato and the carrot, which would take the longest to cook. I would also use the tomato because it is something I like, if you want, don't add it, but since I like it I decided to use it as an ingredient, although I wouldn't add it for now...
I cut the potato and carrot into small squares, so they wouldn't take so long to cook in the water. Once they were ready, I took the potato and the carrot out of the water to reduce a little the water where I cooked them, because I planned to use it also to give more flavor to the broth that I had already prepared with the sachet of magic powder.
Once everything was ready, I also cut the tomato into not so big pieces.
Remember at the beginning of this post I mentioned that I would be using an egg and a green onion in the recipe? Well, this is where the two ingredients come into play.
To prepare traditional ramen, they do a whole marinating process with the egg once it is cooked, but since I am not an expert on the subject and my intention is not to replicate a traditional ramen, I simply boiled the egg and cut it in half.
Regarding the scallion sprig, I washed it well with enough water and cut it into small slices, as you can see in the photo below:
To serve it was just a matter of adding the broth to fill half the cup. The original broth, the one that only had the magic powder, was a little thicker when mixed with the water where I boiled the potato and carrot and I must say that it also had a more interesting flavor, it tasted richer.
On top of this broth I added half of the noodles and on top of these noodles I added the potato and carrot squares, as well as the tomatoes, which would cook a little in the broth, which was very hot, just off the stove.
The last thing was to add the small pieces of scallions to garnish the dish, with the same steam and heat of the water the scallions would release their flavor to further enhance this recipe.

Finally, to give better presentation to this ramen attempt, the boiled egg cut in half, one half on each side of the dish. Below you can see a few pictures of the final result:
What did you think? I think that with all these ingredients the soup improves a lot. It goes from being a simple broth with flavor and noodles, to a cup of soup with more flavor, more vegetables and the proteins that in this case the egg provides. As you can see, a more than complete dinner.

Well friends, so much for this recipe. It is not something that should be eaten every day, because these instant soups contain chemicals and things that in the end are not entirely good for your health, if eaten in excess; however, once in a while, to get out of a hurry, they are not bad at all.

El otro día fui al mercado y encontré una sopa instantánea de esas que se hacen pasar por ramen. Me llamó la atención, porque nunca había visto este tipo de sopa por aquí, así que me compré un par de paquetes.
La verdad nunca en la vida había probado una de estas sopas, esa fue una de las razones de por qué las compré. Preparé uno de los empaques, así tal cual como venía, para ver que tal y la verdad me decepcionó un poco. En vista de la decepción, me puse a pensar en cómo podía mejorarla, así que de eso les voy a hablar hoy en mi publicación, sobre cómo mejoré una sopa instantánea.
Los ingredientes que utilicé para esta receta fueron muy sencillos. Todos tenemos en casa estos ingredientes así que pueden seguir la receta conmigo.
1 Tomate
1 Huevo
1 Zanahoria
1 Papa
1 Ramita de cebollín
1 Empaque de sopa instantánea.
Como les dije, preparé uno de los empaques pero me dejó un poco decepcionado porque pensé que sería más rico, no sé, esperaba más. Es simplemente una sopa de fideos con cierto sabor a caldo de pollo.
Pero claro, no se puede pedir demasiado de algo que normalmente harías para salir del paso, simplemente es algo que te puede dejar lleno el estómago y bastante satisfecho cuando no tienes tiempo de estar una hora en la cocina preparando una buena cena o un buen almuerzo.
El punto es que es algo sencillo, rico y que se puede preparar rápido. Sin embargo, quizás no sea el único que nunca haya preparado una sopa instantánea así que les comentaré brevemente cómo es su preparación.
La preparación de la sopa no es nada del otro mundo. Vienen los fideos secos en forma de un cuadrito, como una panela. Dentro del empaque también hay un sobresito de aluminio con algo que llamaremos "polvo mágico", que es lo que dará sabor al caldo.

Puse a hervir agua y luego la vertí en un tazón, donde comería mi sopa de fideos. Son fideos instantáneos así que en el agua caliente se volvedran blanditos en cuestión de minutos, no hay que esperar demasiado, de ahí su nombre, sopa instantánea...
Aunque yo la compré para ver a qué sabía, me dispuse a mejorarla así que hice el mismo proceso que antes, vertí los fideos en el agua caliente y luego agregué el polvito mágico, mezclándolo todo.
Recuerdo que con la primera que preparé pensé que iba a ser mas espesa, con más sabor, no sé, algo distinto. Pero no, fue una sopa bastante sencilla la verdad. Quizás tenía muchas expectativas...
Como pueden ver, el plato no tiene la mejor presentación. Un caldo bastante claro con fideos que, eso si, saben muy bien. Quería darle más peso, más sabor, mejor presentación, así que comencé a preparar los ingredientes que les mencioné arriba.
Primero puse a hervir la papa y la zanahoria, que sería lo que más tiempo llevaría cocinar. El tomate también lo usaría porque es algo que me gusta, si quieren no lo agreguen pero como a mi me gusta, yo sí decidí usarlo como ingrediente, aunque no lo agregué por ahora...
Corté la papa y la zanahoria en cuadritos pequeños, para que no tardaran tanto en cocinarse en el agua. Una vez que estuvieron listos, saque del agua a la papa y a la zanahoria para reducir un poco el agua donde los cociné, pues planeaba usarla también para darle más sabor al caldo que ya había preparado con el sobre de polvo mágico.
Una vez listo todo, corté el tomate también en trozos no tan grandes.
¿Recuerdan que al comienzo de la publicación les mencioné que usaría un huevo y una cebolla en rama en la receta? Pues aquí entran en acción los dos ingredientes.
Para preparar el ramen tradicional, hacen todo un proceso de marinado con el huevo, una vez está cocido, pero como no soy un experto en el tema y mi intención no es replicar un ramen tradicional, simplemente herví el huevo y lo corté a la mitad.
Con respecto a la ramita de cebollín, la lave bien con suficiente agua y la corté en pequeñas rodajas, tal como observan en la foto a continuación:
Para servir solo fue cuestión de agregar el caldo hasta llenar la mitad de la taza. El caldo original, el que solo tenía el polvo mágico, quedó un poco más espeso al mezclarlo con el agua donde herví la papa y la zanahoria y debo decir que también quedó con un sabor más interesante, sabía más rico.
Sobre este caldo agregué la mitad de los fideos y sobre estos fideos agregué los cuadritos de papa y zanahoria, además de los tomates, que se cocinarían un poco en el caldo, que estaba bien caliente, recién sacado de la estufa.
Lo último fue colocar los trocitos de cebolla en rama para adornar más el plato. Con el mismo vapor y calor del agua el cebollín soltaría su sabor para mejorar aún más esta receta.

Finalmente, para dar mejor presentación a este intento de ramen, el huevo hervido cortado a la mitad, una mitad a cada lado del plato. A continuación pueden ver unas cuantas fotografías del resultado final:
¿Qué les pareció? Yo creo que con todos estos ingredientes la sopa mejora bastante. Pasa de ser un simple caldo con sabor y fideos, a una taza de sopa con más sabor, más vegetales y las proteínas que en este caso aporta el huevo. Como pueden ver, una cena más que completa.

Bien amigos, hasta aquí llegó esta receta. No es algo que se deba comer todos los días, porque estas sopas instantáneas traen quimicos y cosas que al final no son del todo buenas para la salud, si se comen en exceso; sin embargo, de vez en cuando, para salir de un apuro, no caen nada mal.
