Dear friends I hope you have spent happy holidays and received a prosperous 2024, a few days ago in my recap card I found that this is my home and is the community that I use the most so I will start the year with you bringing my content.
In these days some of them are resting, others are on vacation, for the workshops days of madness with all customers wanting their cars ready to visit their families.
That is why I although I do not go on a trip with my car take advantage of these days to replace the spark plugs although it is a simple maintenance the failure and lack of power that generates the engine is quite noticeable.
To replace the spark plugs in our cars ourselves we only need to keep in mind three very important things:
- The car's engine must be cold.
If we replace the spark plugs as soon as we finish using our car this can cause damage to the threads of the cylinder head as the cylinder head mostly in modern cars is aluminum and the spark plugs are steel what I mean by this that the cooling process of these parts is different (mechanically it is known as thermal expansion) while the cylinder head is already cold contracts and the spark plug is still hot is stretched so it damages the threads of the cylinder head.
- Swap 1 for one.
Unlike my previous photo do not disconnect all the wires, it is better to remove a wire replace the spark plug and then replace the wire so you do not lose the firing order of the engine I remove all the wires because I have experience and I know how they go, another very important fact at this point is that before removing the spark plug with a brush or compressed air blows the area to remove the spark plug does not fall any particles to the inside of the cylinder that you can generate any damage.
- Never replace a single spark plug.
One of the most common failures we see today is that users replace only the spark plug that fails them at the moment perhaps for lack of economic resources but this is a bad practice so the spark plugs come in blister packs of 4.
Whenever we are going to replace the spark plugs and this should not be when they fail, it should be done every 20 thousand km as the car manual says.
Another thing that we must keep in mind is to buy the correct spark plugs for our engine, not all spark plugs are the same, even if they look the same, the spark plugs have a nomenclature or a code that identifies the spark plugs.
As you can see in the last picture the spark plugs are still working properly but as I mentioned above already had the recommended travel, this makes the inside of the engine is kept clean and that the oil lasts the right time because a spark plug in poor condition by not burning the fuel this contaminates the oil with fuel that was not burned in the cylinder where the spark plug is failing.
When fuel falls into the oil it loses its lubricating properties and generates damage by dragging on the parts that make up the engine so it is always good and more economical to do preventive maintenance.
Now to finish my publication I show you that I took the opportunity to clean the engine a little and clean the pcv valve that was already clogging so there was a little oil moisture in the gasket of the valve cover.

Queridos amigos espero que hayan pasado unas felices fiestas y recibido un próspero 2024, hace unos días en mi tarjeta de recap me salió que está es mi casa y es la comunidad que más utilizo así que arrancaré el año con ustedes trayendo mi contenido.
En estos días algunos de descanso otros de vacaciones, para los talleres días de locura con todos los clientes queriendo sus carros listo para visitar a sus familiares.
Es por ello que yo aunque no salgo de viaje con mi auto aproveche estos días para reemplazar las bujías aunque es un mantenimiento sencillo la falla y falta de potencia que le genera al motor es bastante notoria.
Para reemplazar las bujías de nuestros autos nosotros mismos solo debemos tener en cuenta tres cosas bien importantes:
- El motor del auto debe estar frío.
Si reemplazamos las bujías apenas terminamos de usar nuestro auto esto puede ocasionar que se dañen las roscas de la culata ya que la culata más que todo en autos modernos es de aluminio y las bujías son de acero lo que quiero decir con esto que el proceso de enfriamiento de estas piezas es diferente (mecánicamente se le conoce como dilatación térmica) mientras la culata ya está fría se contrae y la bujía sigue caliente está estirada por eso daña las roscas de la culata.
- Cambia 1 por una.
A diferencia de mi foto anterior no desconectes todos los cables, es mejor quitar un cable reemplazar la bujía y luego volver a colocar el cable así no pierdes el orden de encendido del motor yo saco todos los cables porque tengo experiencia y se cómo van, otro dato bien importante en este punto es que antes de sacar la bujía con una brocha o con aire comprimido soples el área para que al sacar la bujía no caiga ninguna partícula a la parte interna de los cilindro que te pueda generar algún daño.
- Nunca reemplaces una sola bujía.
Una de las fallas más comunes que vemos hoy en día es que los usuarios reemplazan solo la bujía que les falla de momento quizás por falta de recursos económicos pero esto es una mala práctica por eso las bujías vienen en blíster de 4.
Siempre que vamos a reemplazar las bujías y esto no debe ser cuando fallan, debe realizarse cada 20 mil km como dice el manual de auto.
Otra cosa que debemos tener pendiente es comprar la bujías correctas para nuestro motor no todas las bujías son iguales así lo parezcan las bujías traen una nomenclatura o un código en el que se identifica la temperatura de trabajo, el factor de resistencia y otros datos más por eso debemos usar siempre la recomendada.
Cómo pueden ver en la última imagen las bujías aún están funcionando correctamente pero como mencioné arriba ya tenían el recorrido recomendado, esto hace que la parte interna del motor se mantenga limpia y que el aceite dure el tiempo correcto ya que una bujía en mal estado al no quemar el combustible este contamina el aceite con el combustible que no se quemó en el cilindro donde la bujía está fallando.
Al caer combustible al aceite este pierde sus propiedades lubricantes y genera daño por arrastre en las piezas que componen al motor por eso siempre es bueno y más económico hacer mantenimiento preventivo.
Ya para finalizar mi publicación les muestro que aproveche de limpiar un poco el motor y limpie la válvula pcv que ya se estaba tapando por eso había un poco de humedad de aceite en la empacadura del tapa válvulas.
