Disappointment, a word that we have not only read, it is something that we have all experienced throughout life, since childhood, we may have suffered disappointments, at that early age, often happens to us by spoiled because we want things to be as we want, for example I always wanted to give me toys and if the gift was clothes I was disappointed, I for example sometimes recognize that I am spoiled and I want things to be how, when and where I want, but as adults it is something that we can identify and deal with in a better way, if we are honest with ourselves, but disappointment can often be something really painful for us as human beings, at any age.
Decepción, una palabra que la no solo hemos leído, es algo que todos hemos experimento a lo largo de la vida, ya que desde la niñez, podemos haber sufrido decepciones, a esa temprana edad, muchas veces nos ocurre por malcriadez porque deseamos que las cosas sean como nosotros queremos, por ejemplo yo siempre deseaba que me regalaran juguetes y si el regalo era ropa me decepcionaba, cosa que puede seguir ocurriendo en nuestra edad adulta, yo por ejemplo a veces reconozco que soy malcriada y que quiero que las coas sean cómo, cuándo y dónde yo quiero, pero bueno ya de adultos es algo que podemos identificar y tratar de mejor manera, si somos sinceros con nosotros mismos, pero la decepción muchas veces puede ser algo verdaderamente doloroso para nosotros como seres humanos, a cualquier edad.
For the one who writes these lines, disappointment is linked to expectation, in a few words what is expected from someone or something, for example, when I went to the movies to see Jurassic World: Dominion, I expected something different than what I saw, so I was disappointed, because I did not see what I expected, but that was for me, maybe for others the movie was great.
Now, to better illustrate my experiences regarding disappointment, I will share with you two personal experiences, in which disappointment made me even cry and therefore they are moments that I still remember vividly.
Para quien escribe estas líneas, la decepción está ligada a la expectativa, en pocas palabras lo que se espera de alguien o de algo, por ejemplo, cuando fui al cine a ver Jurassic World: Dominion, esperaba algo diferente a lo que vi, así que me decepcioné, pues no vi lo que yo esperaba, pero eso fue para mí, tal vez para otros la película fue genial.
Ahora bien, para ilustrar mejor mis vivencias en cuanto a la decepción, les compartiré dos experiencias personales, en las que la decepción me hizo hasta llorar y por ello son momentos que todavía recuerdo vívidamente.
When I was a little girl full of illusion, fantasy and who did not know or rather, did not know that the world can be cruel and that people can disappoint us, since each one has both virtues and defects, I in my innocence admired a famous Venezuelan clown, whose stage name was Popy, I had many of his vinyl records at home and sang his songs very happy at some point, I do not know if I asked for it or if my grandmother and mother before my admiration, decided to take me to a live performance of this famous clown.
Cuando era una niña pequeña llena de ilusión, fantasía y que no sabía o mejor dicho, desconocía que el mundo puede ser cruel y que las personas nos pueden decepcionar, ya que cada una tiene tanto virtudes como defectos, yo en mi inocencia admiraba a un famoso payaso venezolano, cuyo nombre artístico era Popy, tenía muchos de sus discos de vinilo en casa y cantaba sus canciones muy feliz en algún momento, no sé si lo pedí o si mi abuela y madre ante mi admiración, decidieron llevarme a una presentación en vivo de este famoso payaso.
I don't remember where they took me and even less the name of the place, I only saw the sides, but I do remember that I was very excited, because I would see Popy in person, there were many children and other parents, but although I was small I did notice that a lot of time passed and my admired Popy didn't appear, The other children were also tired, some were crying, others older than my age were asking for him and the face of the parents became strange, the thing was that my admired clown never arrived and I returned home very disappointed, because my illusion as a child had vanished. Although it is probable that my grandmother, who did not have much patience, would have retired with me, tired of waiting, since it really took a long time and the place of the presentation was quite uncomfortable.
Yo no recuerdo a donde me llevaron y menos el nombre del lugar, yo solo veía a los lados, pero si recuerdo que estaba muy emocionada, pues vería Popy en persona, había muchos niños y otros padres, pero aunque era pequeña si note que pasaba mucho tiempo y mi admirado Popy no aparecía, ya los demás niños estaban también cansados, algunos lloraban otros más grandes de mi edad preguntaban por el y la cara de los padres se tornaba extraña, el tema fue que mi admirado payaso nunca llego y yo regrese a casa muy decepcionada, pues mi ilusión de niña se había esfumado. Aunque es probable que mi abuela, que no tenía mucha paciencia, se hubiera retirado conmigo cansada de esperar, ya que de verdad se tardaba y el sitio de la presentación era bastante incómodo.
The second personal experience, I was already a young woman of about 22 years old and I had a very attentive boyfriend who liked to spend time with me, but there was something strange that at first I did not make much noise, I noticed that when he was with me he was very attentive in everything, but when we were not together, sometimes he disappeared and it was difficult to answer calls or messages, at first I thought it might be normal, but being a constant I began to doubt a little, but I decided to play it down, because, I came to believe that I was a little paranoid and distrustful.
La segunda experiencia personal, ya era una joven de aproximadamente 22 años y tenía un novio muy atento y al que le gustaba mucho pasar tiempo conmigo, pero había algo extraño que al principio no me hizo mayor ruido, yo si notaba que cuando estaba conmigo era muy atento en todo, pero cuando no estábamos juntos, a veces se desaparecía y era difícil que respondiera llamadas o mensajes, al principio creí que podría ser normal, pero al ser una constante empecé a dudar un poco, pero decidí restarle importancia, pues, llegue a creer que estaba un poco paranoica y desconfiada.
I discovered that my instinct did not fail, because one afternoon, when I was calling him, after sending him several SMS, on the other side of the phone, a female voice answered, at first I thought it could be his mother, but no, it was another girl who was with him and in a very cynical, shameless and malicious way she told me: - he will not answer, because he is sleeping, he is tired, we just had sex (I use other words).
You can imagine that I was speechless and my face was very evident, because a neighbor who has known me since childhood, approached me to ask me if something was wrong, the disappointment was terrible, I could not believe I was being deceived, it was something I did not expect someone who treated me so well to lie to me and less to betray me with a woman so vulgar, or to be able to do something like that, as expected, that's how far the relationship went.
Descubrí que mi instinto no fallaba, pues una tarde, cuando lo llamaba, luego de enviarle varios SMS, del otro lado del teléfono, atendió una voz femenina, al principio pensé que podría ser su madre, pero no, era otra chica que andaba con él y de manera muy cínica, descarada y mal intencionada me dijo: - él no te atenderá, pues está durmiendo, está cansado, acabamos de tener relaciones (uso otras palabras).
Podrán imaginarse que yo me quede sin palabras y mi cara fue muy evidente, pues una vecina que me conoce desde la infancia, se me acerco para preguntarme si algo me pasaba, la decepción fue terrible, no podía creer que me estuvieran engañando, fue algo que no esperaba de alguien que me trataba tan bien me mintiera y menos que me traicionara con una mujer tan vulgar, o que fuera capaz de hacer algo así, como era de esperarse hasta allí llego la relación.
