‎La vida está llena de emociones que a menudo nos llevan por caminos inesperados. En mi caso, estos Ăşltimos meses han sido un viaje emocional tan complejo como gratificante. Ser madre es una experiencia abrumadora, y cuando además tienes la responsabilidad de cuidar a tu propia madre con Alzheimer, las emociones se intensifican. A menudo me encuentro atrapada entre el amor profundo que siento por mis dos "niñas": mi hija, que brilla con la alegrĂa de la infancia, y mi madre, que navega en un mar de confusiĂłn y recuerdos perdidos.

‎DĂa a dĂa, mis sentimientos fluctĂşan como las mareas. Hay momentos en los que me siento pura felicidad al ver a mi pequeña disfrutar de la vida, su risa resonando en el aire y su curiosidad convirtiendo cada dĂa en una nueva aventura. Sin embargo, la felicidad a veces se ve empañada por el estrĂ©s y la culpa que me persiguen. El cuidado que ofrezco a ambas se siente abrumador en ocasiones; hay dĂas en los que mi paciencia se agota y me reprocho el no haber sido lo suficientemente paciente o comprensiva. ‎Esos pensamientos oscuros son difĂciles de combatir. Las noches se convierten en momentos de introspecciĂłn donde reflexiono sobre todo lo que debo a mi madre, sobre las luchas que ha enfrentado y las sacrificios que ha hecho. La vida ha sido dura con ella, y ahora, mientras cuido de ella y veo cĂłmo su esencia se desvanece, quiero proteger a mi hija de un mundo que puede ser tan cruel. A menudo me pregunto: Âżestoy haciendo lo correcto? ÂżLe estoy dando a cada una de ellas lo que necesitan?

‎Las inseguridades tambiĂ©n se asoman a medida que pienso en mi relaciĂłn con el papá de mi hija. Mis sentimientos han cambiado con el tiempo, pero, de alguna manera, lo extraño. Reflections on the Feelings of a Mother
Life is full of emotions that often lead us down unexpected paths. In my case, these past few months have been an emotional journey that has been as complex as it has been rewarding. Being a mother is an overwhelming experience, and when you also have the responsibility of caring for your own mother with Alzheimer's, the emotions intensify. I often find myself caught between the deep love I feel for my two “girls”: my daughter, glowing with the joy of childhood, and my mother, navigating a sea of confusion and lost memories.
Day by day, my feelings fluctuate like the tides. There are times when I feel pure happiness as I watch my little one enjoy life, her laughter echoing in the air and her curiosity turning each day into a new adventure. However, the happiness is sometimes clouded by the stress and guilt that haunt me. The care I offer both of them feels overwhelming at times; there are days when my patience wears thin and I berate myself for not being patient or understanding enough. In those moments of weakness, a wave of guilt floods my heart. I wonder if I am a bad mother, if I fail as a daughter.
Those dark thoughts are hard to combat. Evenings become moments of introspection where I reflect on all that I owe my mother, on the struggles she has faced and the sacrifices she has made. Life has been hard on her, and now, as I care for her and watch her essence fade, I want to protect my daughter from a world that can be so cruel. I often wonder, am I doing the right thing, am I giving each of them what they need?
Insecurities also loom as I think about my relationship with my daughter's dad. My feelings have changed over time, but somehow I miss him. His absence leaves a void that sometimes feels overwhelming. I have had recurring dreams of him, and while I know those longings are tied to my desire to have him by my side, reality often brings me back to the present, where the daily struggle consumes much of my emotional energy.
It is a constant balancing act. I want to be a strong woman, firm in my decisions, able to find clarity in the midst of the storm. But there are times when doubt invades my mind and my actions seem insufficient. When I strive to do well as much as I can and still feel it is not enough, frustration turns into silent screams inside me.
Despite this emotional roller coaster, there is one light that always shines: my girls. They are my motivation, my reason to keep going, my sources of unconditional love. When I look at my daughter, with her indomitable energy and bright smile, I push myself to be better. And when I find moments of connection with my mother, even in the midst of her turmoil, I feel that the love we share transcends time and space.
Fighting for them means finding balance in this chaos. It means learning to accept my imperfections and remembering that I don't have to be the perfect mother or daughter to be enough. I am learning that vulnerability is not a weakness, but an essential part of my journey. In the end, what really matters is the love I offer and the effort I put into being present for them, despite the challenges.
So here I am, navigating a sea of complex feelings. I want my girls to know that, although I am sometimes agitated and doubtful, my love for them is unwavering. Every day is an opportunity to grow, to learn, and to support the ones I love the most. Although the road may seem lonely at times, in the end I know I am not alone. I am here, willing to fight for them, because at the end of the day, they are the ones who truly matter in this emotion-filled journey of life.
