Hola amigos de Hive, es la primera vez que participo en esta comunidad. Me suscribí hace algún tiempo pero no había tenido la oportunidad para dedicarle un poco de tiempo. Me interesan un sinfín de temas y quiero escribir sobre todo (lo cual creo que quizás me ha perjudicado para progresar en Hive, no lo sé) Pero los sentimientos y yo somos amigos íntimos jajaja, me encanta hablar de ellos, los expresó de forma profunda aunque muchas veces no de la forma más adecuada.
Por eso me parece muy nutritiva esta comunidad, a la vez que, al leer sobre los sentimientos, y las publicaciones de todos los que aquí participan, me lleva a la reflexión y a realizarse un autoexamen. Esto lo olvidamos muchas veces o no lo creemos necesario. Pero es indispensable para ir puliendo esas abolladuras, que pudiéramos tener o se pudieran ir causando con el vaivén de la vida.
Pero, ¡heme aquí hoy! Guau esta expresión me salió de la nada, quizás en alguna ocasión la utilicé como lenguaje coloquial o en broma, no lo sé. Sin embargo nunca la había utilizado de forma escrita. Además, al escribirla me parecía tan rara que tuve que buscarla en nuestro amigo google, para (1) ver si en realidad esa palabra existía y (2) si estaba bien utilizada de esa forma.
Así que para esas dos dudas la respuesta es sí y sí. La palabra en cuestión en español es “heme” del verbo haber, lo escribo así porque al traducir al inglés se que no se podrá identificar lo que quiero decir. La AUTOESTIMA
Ahora sí, a lo que nos trajo aquí, la AUTOESTIMA, el AUTOAMOR o AMOR PROPIO, como lo refieren en la invitación a esta iniciativa. Por cierto si quieres saber más de ella puedes consultarlo aquí: SELF LOVE - Topic of the month // AUTOAMOR – Tema del mes [ENG-ESP]
La AUTOESTIMA, no es más que el concepto que tenemos de nosotros mismos, por ende el valor que creemos que tenemos, juzgados desde nuestros propios ojos no lo que otros piensen de nosotros. Por eso es que, esta palabra combinada comienza con la palabra AUTO, porque proviene de uno mismo.
Lamentablemente creo que, en especial en los actuales momentos la AUTOESTIMA, nos está jugando en contra. Te cuento porque pienso eso. Es demasiado común las personas que se menosprecian o crean que tienen muy poco valor, mientras que en el otro extremo están aquellas que se creen mejores que otras. Son los dos polos opuestos en este vector llamado AUTOESTIMA.
Lo sano para todos es tener un punto de vista equilibrado de uno mismo, es decir en la línea imaginaria de la AUTOESTIMA nuestro valor debería estar cerca al centro, quizás un poco más cerca del valor más alto o un poco más bajo, pero como todo los extremos no son buenos.
Una persona con una AUTOESTIMA baja tiende a sufrir de depresión, en casos extremos muchos llegan a suicidarse. Además la autoestima baja arrastra una serie de otros problemas que empeoran la situación.
Por ejemplo, una persona con una autoestima baja puede pensar que nadie lo quiere, que no vale nada, que a nadie le importa, que no sirve para nada, que es un fracasado. Por lo tanto pierde interés en las cosas que hace, incluso puede ser que hasta de su propia vida. Les cuesta recuperarse de los fracasos, tienen poca energía para las actividades diarias, para asumir nuevos retos o responsabilidades, para cumplir sus metas o sueños, o quizás hasta carecen de ellos en lo absoluto.
Por otro lado están aquellos que su AUTOESTIMA está al límite alto. Estos se creen superiores a todos, por lo tanto se creen que todo se lo merecen, sin importar nada ni nadie. Son narcisistas y egocéntricos. Normalmente lastiman a otras personas y no se ganan el aprecio sincero de otros.
¿Porque muchos no tienen una AUTOESTIMA equilibrada?
Como ya les dije soy madre de una adolescente, mi hijo tiene 14 años. Pero con sinceridad, quizás ustedes no estén de acuerdo, creo que una gran parte de la responsabilidad en los problemas de autoestima la tenemos nosotros los padres.
Soy madre, pero también fui hija. Por experiencia propia y ajena también he llegado a esa conclusión. No se si esta semana se celebra algo que tenga que ver con la AUTOESTIMA pero justo ayer vi varios videos al respecto que me dieron mucho en que pensar. Muchas veces los padres, tratan de formar hijos con carácter, y que estén capacitados para ser responsables de sí mismos y de otros en el futuro y también de evitarles problemas y dolores en la vida.
Quizás nos acostumbremos a decirles frases, que poco a poco van lastimando el concepto que tienen de ellos mismos. Cuando son pequeños no tienen conciencia de su verdadero yo, y somos nosotros quienes vamos abonando y echando gotitas en ese vaso de la AUTOESTIMA el cual más tarde ellos tendrán que reconocer.
Sin embargo hay otra verdad importantísima, y es que la genética juega un papel importante aquí, pero no es definitiva. Hay personas que por naturaleza son muy seguras de sí misma, y no tienden a afectarse mucho por los tratos u opiniones de otros y también las hay las que están en otro extremo. Pero entonces allí entran en juego los entrenadores (padres o responsables) en tratar de ayudarlos a desarrollar destrezas que les permitan pulir de forma sana sus cualidades y sentimientos.
Esto no es tan fácil porque, también somos humanos e imperfectos y a veces puede pasar que seamos como un ciego guiando a otro ciego. Porque lamentablemente muchas veces se crea una cadena de generación en generación y sin querer vamos arrastrando conductas que no son muy sanas.
- Estas gordísim@, pareces una ballena.
- No comas más porque gorda nadie te va a querer.
- Eres bruto.
- No sirves para nada.
- No te quiero.
- Ojalá no hubieras nacido.
- No te soporto.
- Eres feo.
- Narizón.
- Torpe.
- Nunca haces nada bien.
- Los hombres no lloran.
- Gánese el pan que se come.
- Si tu no hubieras nacido yo hubiera sido feliz, …
- Eres igualito a tu papa (mama) de…
- Eres o serás un inútil.
- Eres un bobo o estúpido.
- Pareces una mujercita.
- Cállese la boca.
- No me interesa lo que tienes que decir.
- Eso no es problema mío.
- Para ti no hay helado solo para tu hermanito.
Claro, en algún momento usar algunas de estas frases no acabará con la AUTOESTIMA de nuestro hijo o de otra persona. Pero si cuando es una norma y es un trato diario donde se menoscaba la libertad de expresión, el derecho de ser querido, de ser respetado y se aplasta la dignidad de esa persona, si lo puede lograr.
Sin embargo hay muchas otras cosas que pueden afectar nuestra AUTOESTIMA como por ejemplo:
- Estilo de vida malsano.
- Errores cometidos.
- Fracasos.
- Compararnos con los demás.
¿Porque ciertas cosas afectan nuestra AUTOESTIMA?
Las situaciones de vida, no nos afectan a todos de igual manera. Estas tendrán influencia en cada individuo de forma particular. Pero muchas veces, estas circunstancias pueden hacernos creer que:
- Nuestro valor depende de cómo nos veamos, es decir de nuestra apariencia física.
- Que no importa lo que hagamos si ya somos unos fracasados.
- Somos los responsables de la infelicidad de otros, entre otras cosas.
- Que es imposible que alguien nos quiera.
Hay mucha tela que cortar en cuanto a este tema, me ha hecho reflexionar porque en ocasiones soy dura con mi hijo, el tiene un poquito de sobrepeso y si, lo confieso le he dicho para tratar que no coma tanto que no coma más porque esta gordisimo y se va a poner como una ballena. Lo cual no ha funcionado y él se ríe, pero quizás en el fondo eso lo va afectando. Así como otros muchos errores más que he cometido.
Pero ha sido más maduro que yo en ese aspecto. Por ejemplo, cuando estaba mas pequeño la endocrina dijo que había que colocarle un medicamento porque podía dejar de crecer y se iba a quedar pequeño, por un problema que tenía. Yo estaba muy preocupada porque no se conseguía el medicamento y eso me tenía angustiada. Porque él siempre había sido más alto para su edad pero la doctora me dijo que a pesar de eso se podía detener el crecimiento y me quedaría hasta allí.
Pero ese sabio jovencito me dijo hace como 5 años: “que yo sea alto o bajito eso no será importante, lo importante es que yo esté bien de salud”. Me lo dijo con una tranquilidad impactante. Eso me dio una lección, me tranquilice y en la actualidad ya mide casi 1.70 metros, pero en realidad eso no es lo importante.
¿Se puede hacer algo para ajustar el nivel de autoestima?
Afortunadamente sí podemos mejorar la opinión que tenemos de nosotros mismos. Claro está, no es una receta estándar, porque hay diferentes aspectos que pueden entrar en juego en una persona en particular. Como dijimos la genética, la crianza, también traumas puntuales como abuso sexual, enfermedades como la depresión, bipolaridad (en cuyo caso hay que buscar ayuda médica), entre otros.
Muchas personas no lo creen, pero yo he luchado desde siempre con problemas de AUTOESTIMA. Muchos me han visto muy segura de mi misma desde jóven, extrovertida, que me desenvuelvo bien, me sé defender, no me ven quejándome de mi apariencia, entre otras cosas, pero esta es mi verdad.
Algunos consejos
Cosas que debes evitar:
- Adicciones (tabaco, alcohol, drogas).
- Promiscuidad sexual.
- Relaciones disfuncionales (parejas, amigos y hasta familia).
- Aislarse por mucho tiempo.
Cosas que debes hacer:
- Comer sano.
- Descansar bien.
- Hacer ejercicio.
- Tomar sol.
- No te compares con nadie.
- Prestar atención a tu higiene
- Tener buenos amigos (sin importar la edad).
- No pienses tanto en los problemas, carencias o en lo que te hace sentir mal.
- No te angusties demasiado.
- Haz cosas por otros, no solo esperes que los demás hagan cosas por ti.
- Reconoce que todos cometen errores.
- Ríete.
- Sé bondados@ contigo mism@ no te juzgues con dureza.
- Cultivar tu espiritualidad.
Una frase que me ha acompañado desde hace mucho, pero que los últimos años me repito con mayor frecuencia, y se que también te va a ayudar es:
“Un día a la vez”
No te preocupes porque mañana o en unos días seguro te vas a sentir…, o no vas a haber logrado…
También, hace no tanto, leí aquí en Hive un post de una chica (no recuerdo su nombre), que comentó una experiencia que tuvo al ayudar a una viejecita a caminar. ella le dijo a la señora vamos poco a poco y la señora le dijo:
“No, vamos paso a paso. Porque poco a poco suena como a carencia pero paso a paso muestra que avanzó”
En realidad no fue textual así, pero quiso decir eso. Entonces es muy importante repetir eso. Quizás no puedes hacer todo lo que te puede ayudar de una vez. Incluso, puede que haya cosas que no puedas lograr, quizás, pero trata de lograr una cosa a la vez, y vivir (ojo y no sobrevivir) un día a la vez.
Información adicional 💡Me disculpo por hacer este post tan largo, pero me inspiro y luego no puedo parar. Para ser mi primera vez aquí, escribí un best seller. No importa cuales sean tus creencias, pero se ha comprobado que cultivar la espiritualidad ayuda a mejorar el estado de ánimo y el concepto que tenemos de nosotros mismos. Hello friends of Hive, this is the first time I participate in this community. I subscribed some time ago but haven't had the opportunity to dedicate some time to it. I'm interested in a lot of topics and I want to write about everything (which I think maybe has hurt me to progress in Hive, I don't know) But feelings and I are close friends hahaha, I love to talk about them, I expressed them in a deep way although many times not in the most appropriate way.
That's why I find this community very nourishing, at the same time, reading about feelings, and the posts of all those who participate here, leads me to reflection and self-examination. We often forget this or do not think it is necessary. But it is indispensable to polish those dents that we may have or that may be caused by the ups and downs of life.
But, here I am today! Wow, this expression came out of nowhere, maybe I used it on some occasion as colloquial language or as a joke, I don't know. However, I had never used it in written form. Besides, when I wrote it, it seemed so strange that I had to look it up in our friend google, to (1) see if this word really existed and (2) if it was well used in that way.
So for those two doubts the answer is yes and yes. About SELF LOVE

SELF-LOVE, is nothing more than the concept we have of ourselves, therefore the value we believe we have, judged from our own eyes not what others think of us. That is why this combined word begins with the word SELF, because it comes from oneself.
Unfortunately I think that, especially at the present time, SELF-LOVE is playing against us. I will tell you why I think so. It is all too common for people to belittle themselves or believe they have very little value, while at the other extreme are those who believe they are better than others. They are the two opposite poles in this vector called SELF-LOVE.
The healthy thing for everyone is to have a balanced point of view of oneself, that is to say, on the imaginary line of SELF-LOVE our value should be close to the center, perhaps a little closer to the highest value or a little lower, but like everything else, extremes are not good.
A person with a low SELF-LOVE tends to suffer from depression, in extreme cases many even commit suicide. In addition, low self-love drags a series of other problems that worsen the situation.
For example, a person with low self-love may think that nobody loves him, that he is worthless, that nobody cares, that he is worthless, that he is a failure. Therefore, he loses interest in the things he does, maybe even in his own life. It is difficult for them to recover from failures, they have little energy for daily activities, to take on new challenges or responsibilities, to fulfill their goals or dreams, or perhaps even lack them at all.
On the other hand, there are those whose SELF-LOVE is at its highest limit. They believe they are superior to everyone, therefore they believe they deserve everything, regardless of anything or anyone. They are narcissistic and self-centered. They usually hurt other people and do not earn the sincere appreciation of others.
Because many do not have a balanced SELF-LOVE?
As I told you I am a mother of a teenager, my son is 14 years old. But in all honesty, you may not agree, I believe that a large part of the responsibility for self-love problems lies with us parents.
I am a mother, but I was also a daughter. From my own experience and that of others, I have also come to that conclusion. I don't know if this week is celebrated something that has to do with SELF-LOVE but just yesterday I saw several videos about it that gave me a lot to think about. Many times parents try to form children with character, and that they are able to be responsible for themselves and others in the future and also to avoid problems and pains in life.
Perhaps we get used to tell them phrases that little by little hurt their self-concept. When they are small they are not aware of their true self, and we are the ones who are fertilizing and pouring drops in that glass of SELF-LOVE which later they will have to recognize.
However, there is another very important truth, and that is that genetics plays an important role here, but it is not definitive. There are people who by nature are very self-confident, and do not tend to be affected much by the dealings or opinions of others, and then there are those who are at the other extreme. But then the coaches (parents or caregivers) come into play in trying to help them develop skills that allow them to polish their qualities and feelings in a healthy way.
This is not so easy because we are also human and imperfect and sometimes it can happen that we are like the blind leading the blind. Because unfortunately many times a chain is created from generation to generation and unintentionally we are dragging behaviors that are not very healthy.
- You are very fat, you look like a whale.
- Don't eat anymore because nobody will love you fat.
- You are gross.
- You are useless.
- I don't love you.
- I wish you had never been born.
- I can't stand you.
- You're ugly.
- Nosey.
- Clumsy.
- You never do anything right.
- Men don't cry.
- Earn the bread you eat.
- If you had not been born I would have been happy, ...
- You're just like your daddy (mommy) from...
- You are or will be useless.
- You are a fool or stupid.
- You look like a little woman.
- Shut your mouth.
- I don't care what you have to say.
- That's not my problem.
- For you there is no ice cream only for your little brother.
Sure, at some point using some of these phrases will not kill our child's or anyone else's SELF-LOVE. But when it is a norm and it is a daily treatment where freedom of expression is undermined, the right to be loved, to be respected and the dignity of that person is crushed, it can.
However there are many other things that can affect our SELF-LOVE such as:
- Unhealthy lifestyle.
- Mistakes made.
- Failures.
- Comparing ourselves with others.
Why do certain things affect our SELF-LOVE?
Life situations, do not affect us all in the same way. They will influence each individual in a particular way. But many times, these circumstances can make us believe that:
- Our value depends on how we look, i.e. our physical appearance.
- That it doesn't matter what we do if we are already failures.
- We are responsible for the unhappiness of others, among other things.
- That it is impossible for someone to love us.
There's a lot of things to cut on this topic, it has made me reflect because sometimes I am hard with my son, he is a little overweight and yes, I confess I have told him to try not to eat so much that he doesn't eat more because he is very fat and he is going to get like a whale. Which has not worked and he laughs, but maybe deep down it is affecting him. As well as many other mistakes I have made.
But he's been more mature than me in that respect. For example, when he was smaller, the endocrinologist said that he had to be put on medication because he could stop growing and he was going to stay small, due to a problem he had. I was very worried because the medicine was not available and that made me anxious. Because he had always been taller for his age, but the doctor told me that in spite of that, the growth could stop and I would stay there.
But that wise young man told me about 5 years ago: "whether I am tall or short is not important, the important thing is that I am in good health ". He said it to me with a shocking tranquility. That taught me a lesson, I calmed down and now I'm almost 5'10", but that's not really what's important.
Can anything be done to adjust the level of self-love?
Fortunately, we can improve our opinion of ourselves. Of course, it is not a standard recipe, because there are different aspects that can come into play in a particular person. As we said genetics, upbringing, also punctual traumas such as sexual abuse, diseases such as depression, bipolar (in which case you have to seek medical help), among others.
Many people don't believe it, but I have always struggled with SELF-LOVE issues. Many have seen me as very self-confident since I was young, outgoing, that I carry myself well, I know how to defend myself, they don't see me complaining about my appearance, among other things, but this is my truth.
Some tips
Things you should avoid:
- Addictions (tobacco, alcohol, drugs).
- Sexual promiscuity.
- Dysfunctional relationships (partners, friends and even family).
- Isolating yourself for too long.
Things you should do:
- Eat healthy.
- Get plenty of rest.
- Exercise.
- Sunbathe.
- Don't compare yourself to anyone.
- Pay attention to your hygiene.
- Have good friends (regardless of age).
- Don't think so much about problems, shortcomings or what makes you feel bad.
- Don't get too anxious.
- Do things for others, don't just expect others to do things for you.
- Recognize that everyone makes mistakes.
- Laugh.
- Be kind to yourself, don't judge yourself harshly.
- Cultivar tu espiritualidad.
A phrase that has been with me for a long time, but in recent years I repeat it more often, and I know it will also help you:
“One day at a time”
Don't worry because tomorrow or in a few days you will surely feel..., or you will not have achieved....
Also, not so long ago, I read here in Hive a post of a girl (I don't remember her name), who commented on an experience she had when helping an old lady to walk. she told the lady let's go little by little and the lady told her:
"No, we go step by step. Because little by little sounds like lack but step by step shows that you advanced."
It wasn't actually verbatim like that, but he meant it. So it's very important to repeat that. Maybe you can't do everything that can help you at once. There may even be things you can't accomplish, maybe, but try to accomplish one thing at a time, and live (mind you, not survive) one day at a time.
