When the word FEAR is mentioned, the first thing that comes to our mind is a negative emotion. This is not any logical reasoning but an impulse reaction to its tendencies that has festered for too long, time immemorial.
It has become embedded in our souls, carved in our bones and stilled into our minds to fight against it . We've been made to understand that it's a negativity that needs to be put out at all cost. Our perception has been altered to only see it's bad effects and disadvantages in our lives and so respond in the same manner.
I've always been open minded and inquisitive to probe deeper as to why it's regarded as such. Not conformed to the norm but curious of what it truly is.
Biblically,God created man in his perfection. In other words,he gave unto man whatever necessity he needs to survive and succeed. One major thing I believe God gave us was the freedom or ability to make CHOICES..
This ability is embedded even to our very being. He gave us tongue, with it we can taste sweet and bitter , sour and fresh. Negative and positive in pairs but with the distinctive ability to choose which we want. That's why we were able to prepare foods that are sumptuous,we choose to prepare those foods because we like them sweet. What if we never could identify when something is sweet from it being bitter or otherwise,how can we choose?.
He gave us eyes to see,with these eyes we can see both good and bad,beauty and ugly,clean and dirt. By so doing we are able to choose which we find more appealing and comfortable for our very existence . What if we never had eyes , how could we be able to make such choices?.
Beyond physical senses, we were also given emotions. Psychologist refer to them as neural responses from our nervous system. both positive and negative feelings so to say,which includes pain, fear, happiness, joy etcetera. We possess this feelings so we could relate well with our actions and that of others and choose our parts that best suit us healthily.
People often regard negative feelings as inherently bad, but if we had never had them how would we know what we want ?. how to choose?. Is fear as a negative feeling really as bad as we think ? or say it is ? or has our fear of fear itself become too grown that we can't see it's initial purpose and it's vital part it plays for our existence? .... is fear really that bad? ..
Imagine yourself standing in the middle of the road and a truck is coming up ahead in full momentum..At that moment, you don't realize the devastating effect it could unleash on you and so you possess no fear . Like a new born baby stretching it's hand to a flaming candle without fear of burns . The child ends up getting burnt while you on the other hand is possibly crushed by the truck but if there is awareness of it's dangers and neurons signaling probing fear then the damage would be avoided.
In life affairs, it's no news of the damaging effect of fear on our life's either financially, mentally, Educationally, maritally etcetera. It tends to be an hindrance for most individuals when left uncontrolled. a great man once said that "when the purpose of a thing is not known then abuse is inevitable". Fear was never meant to be a limitation if handled and controlled but man has become customized to it's abuse . Fear is only a signal to possible danger .
An healthy amount of fear is needed to survive and succeed in our daily affairs as much success is concerned. Hence, Morgan Housel once said and I quote
enough to exploit long-term optimism.
The fear of failing an exam, so had to wake up in the dead of the night to study. The fear of becoming poor so had to work harder and smarter to gain wealth. The fear of loosing a friendship ,relationship or marriage so had to work hard efficiently to maintain it . As a business man, the fear of going bankrupt so had to be meticulous in your expenditures and decisions. These fears has made individuals stronger and better as they strive to improve on their lives.
The world exists on Balance, the ability to maintain balance is essential for success . As the quote "Too much of everything is bad" connotes the importance of balance. Fear on a balanced scale becomes healthy and productively effective .
So much could be done, greater heights attained and outstretched milestone's reached if fear as an emotion is being managed effectively.
