Veterinary health tip: NEXGARD SPECTRA(Engl / Spn)

We are now closer to Christmas Eve, so the energy of the days feels beautiful, pleasant; Although one of the things I don't like about this month is fireworks, because animals (both domestic and wild, suffer a lot). I invite you to be kind and compassionate if any animal in search of shelter enters your homes, you are just afraid, you just want to protect yourself. Leaving a dog, a cat or a bird to temporarily spend the night in our homes, while the pyrotechnic explosions happen, will not cause problems, and you will be saving that animal's life. Les invito a que sean amables y compasivos si algún animal en búsqueda de refugio, entra en sus hogares, sólo tienen miedo, sólo quieren resguardarse. Dejar a un perro, un gato o un ave a que pernocte temporalmente en nuestros hogares, mientras pasan las explosiones pirotécnicas, no te generará problemas, y estarás salvándole la vida a ese animal. Hoy he vuelto con otro tip veterinario, EXCLUSIVAMENTE PARA PERROS, este medicamento NO ES APTO PARA GATOS, incluso, PUEDE GENERAR LA MUERTE EN GATOS, porque resulta tóxico para ellos y les destruye órganos internos. Así que tengan muy presente esta observación.

The medication that I want to share with you today is NEXGARD SPECTRA, soft chewable tablets that contain two active agents: Afoxolaner (for external parasites), and Milbemycin Oxime (for internal parasites). This product has been very effective in controlling fleas and mites in my dogs, although it is also useful for eliminating ticks, although I also control the latter with injectable Ivermectin, which I apply to my dogs very far from the date of administration of Nexgard Spectra, since the combination of these two may be toxic and unnecessary.

El medicamento que hoy quiero compartir con ustedes es NEXGARD SPECTRA, unas tabletas blandas masticables, que contienen dos agentes activos: Afoxolaner (para parásitos externos), y Milbemicina Oxima (para parásitos internos). Este producto ha resultado muy eficaz para controlar pulgas y ácaros en mis perros, aunque también es útil para eliminación de garrapatas, aunque estas últimas las controlo también con Ivermectina inyectable, la cual les aplico a mis perros muy lejos de la fecha de administración de Nexgard Spectra, ya que puede resultar tóxica e innecesaria la combinación de estos dos.

In my country we are already in the dry season, that is, in summer, months in which fleas and mites are exacerbated, so I have to prevent these pests from affecting my animals. This product has two categories: Nexgard and Nexgard Spectra. The latter is the one I usually buy from them, although it is more expensive, because in addition to eliminating external parasites, they act on internal parasites (I also deworm my animals every 30 to 45 days with Albendazole). Each box comes with a single dose, and it is a kind of soft, chewable, meat-smelling tablet that is given to the dog to chew and eat. The time in which the effects can be observed is almost immediate, and it is recommended to administer it only twice a year, because more doses can be toxic.

Ya en mi país estamos en temporada seca, es decir, en verano, meses en los cuales las pulgas y ácaros se exacerban, por lo que tengo que prevenir que estas plagas afecten a mis animales. Este producto tiene dos categorías: Nexgard y Nexgard Spectra. Este último es el que les suelo comprar, aunque es más costoso, porque además de eliminar parásitos externos, actúan sobre parásitos internos, (también desparasito a mis animales cada 30 a 45 días con Albendazol). Cada caja trae una sola dosis, y es una especie de comprimido blando, masticable, con olor a carne que se le da al perro, para que lo mastique y se lo coma. El tiempo en que se pueden observar los efectos es casi inmediato, y se recomienda suministrarlo sólo dos veces al año, porque más dosis pueden ser tóxicas.

The cost of this dose was 33$ USD, and although I have three dogs, I bought only one box for now. I gave this product to one of the dogs that had problems with mites, it is not scabies, but mites that usually live on her skin, but since she has a depressed immune system, they attack her skin, that was the diagnosis that gave me said the vet, and after having bathed her several times with a special product, and having applied a spray to the most injured areas, she was not improving, so he recommended advancing the dose of Nexgard Spectra, which was her turn January, by the end of November. The other two animals will receive their doses in January 2024.

El costo de esta dosis fue de 33 $ USD, y aunque tengo tres perros, compré por ahora una sola caja. Este producto se lo di a uno de los perros que presentaba problemas con ácaros, no es sarna, sino ácaros de los que viven usualmente en su piel, pero al ella tener el sistema inmune deprimido, atacan su piel, ese fue el diagnóstico que me dijo el veterinario, y luego de haberla bañado varias veces con un producto especial, y de haberle aplicado un spray en las zonas más lesionadas, no mejoraba, así que recomendó adelantar la dosis de Nexgard Spectra, la cual le tocaba en Enero, para finales de Noviembre. Los otros dos animales recibirán sus dosis en enero 2024.

I like the effectiveness of Nexgard Spectra, plus it comes in a presentation that leaves no doubt that it is original. There is another similar product, known as BRAVECTO, which is supposedly much more effective, which where I live, costs 50 to 60 $ USD, and its presentation here is a simple plastic bag, so it can be lent to fakes. It should be noted that Nexgard Spectra varies its concentration according to the weight of the animal. In my case, I bought the 30 to 60 kg presentation, because my dog weighs 48 kilos. This medicine, like any other that you give to your animals, requires veterinary supervision, always remember that, since animals are more delicate than humans, and we are their families, must be guarantors of their well-being and loving care.

Me gusta la eficacia de Nexgard Spectra, además de que viene en una presentación que no deja lugar a dudas de que es original. Hay otro producto similar, conocido como BRAVECTO, que supuestamente es mucho más efectivo, el cual en donde vivo, tiene un costo de 50 a 60 $ USD, y su presentación aquí, es una simple bolsa plástica, por lo que se puede prestar a falsificaciones. Cabe señalar que Nexgard Spectra varía su concentración de acuerdo al peso del animal. En mi caso, compré la presentación de 30 a 60 kg, porque mi perro pesa 48 kilos. Este medicamento, al igual que cualquier otro que suministren a sus animales, requiere supervisión veterinaria, recuerden siempre eso, ya que los animales son más delicados que los humanos, y nosotros, sus humanos, sus familias, debemos ser garantes de su bienestar y cuidado amoroso.
