Hello, everyone!
We thought it was time for a little catch-up on what's been going on in our community. Observant folk may have noticed that we've tweaked our community rules. The reasons, briefly:
There were suggestions that we were youthist ageist...ahem... Seriously, though -
- freedom of association on the blockchain means anybody can subscribe to the community; and
- it is really difficult to
enforceverify subscribers' ages. Anyway, what self-respecting person asks a person's age? Ask me, and I'll give you my dad's stock answer:
I'm as old as my tongue and a little older than my teeth.
However
We are still committed to a community that showcases selected silver threads, summarised below:
- a keenness to learn more about blockchain and crypto
- life experiences
- musings and memories of lives lived
- planning for (and doing) life beyond formal work
The detail is on the community page and we mention it here because it is these four themes that guide the selection of posts that we showcase and recommend for curation.
We have chosen three posts, this week, and they all speak directly to the first point: crypto and blockchain.
1. Welcome
We begin by welcoming a "young" Hivean - less than a month old. Before introducing herself, @mjvdc shares a little of her life journey with a physical impairment that, for a nineteen-year old, was lifechanging. This beautiful woman found this community and felt at home, so to her, a special blockchain and Silver Bloggers' welcome.
2. NFTs - Non Fu..Wh-a-a-a-t? Tokens
NFTs, they're saying, are the next best thing. My response?
Well, @antikus has come to the rescue. He's offered to do a series on NFTs and his first explainer is here. I don't think I'm alone in my stupidity saying that I need more than just one explainer, so I'm hoping that he and other Silver Bloggers (@travelwritemoney?) will add to the series.
3. Happy Hive Birthday
I was startled to discover that someone I thought had been on the blockchain fore-e-ever, and certainly longer than me, because @justclickindiva does such amazing things in and around the hive, is actually a jongbok (young buck). Well, actually, that's not true, either, she's a young dolphin! Her Hive journey is a study in doing things she enjoys and being an active member of the Hive community.
