Hooded Merganser takes flight. This is my favorite bird in flight capture #SMaP. Hooded Mergansers are one of my favorite birds. Pictured is the male. They have this crazy way of running along the water to get up speed for take off. I like this photo because it also has a partial reflection. Great Egret in flight. This photo was taken in California. We lived near a canal that attracted a wide varity of waterfowl.
Here is one of my old California friends 🙂 a Great Horned Owl. Crazy lucky snap. Owls are silent in flight and he almost blends into the tree behind him. Deadly hunter.
