I upgraded a lot of stuff recently. I think the thing that triggered it was the recording of Chuxie gameplay where I encountered a lot of issues during recording and also the gameplay recording itself. It's the reason why I wasn't able to post the part 2 and 3 of the supposed gameplay and I had to unlist it on Youtube (but still can be viewed on Hive).
PC
One of the things that I have suspected had a problem was the GPU which also conveniently stopped working when I upgraded my fans on my pc. I sent it to the store and thankfully they still accepted it and checked it.
It worked on their motherboard tho LOL and I told them what my issue was and they tested it for a week and said it only shut down once. I think I may have not seated it properly when I was testing it here but even so I think there was still a problem regardless. It's not covered by the store warranty anymore BUT it is covered by the supplier's warranty YAAAY! So they sent it back and I only have to pay for the shipping cost - and it would depend if they will repair it or replace.
I used that opportunity to kinda upgrade from 4070 Ti to 4070 Ti Super. I also just bought the ones easily available to me locally so I can use my PC as soon as possible and also have an easy return if ever there was a problem.
It works great so far and I love the fans hahah. I have had my PC for a year without those additional fans which was not needed but I have noticed recently that I needed it since my room didn't have AC and the temps when I play become high.
The fans are Lian Li Infinity and I love them so much. They're powerful and also easily customizable (RGB DUUUUHHHHHH). 🤣 I didn't have reverse blades cos they weren't available anywhere but I still think the blades at the back look sick regardless.
Also the 96gb of ram works so well with my art stuff. I'm also aware of the 2 sticks vs 4 sticks of ram issue (?) but that's a discussion for next time I guess. I'm not that techy when it comes to those but I think they work fine on me and it's DDR4 anyways and I heard the issue was mainly for DDR5. I can just remove the other two if needed anyway.
Desk
One of my complaints was my old desk was too high for me. I'm tiny and have short legs lol so that means when I sit on my chair, my feet are up in the air. 😂 Which as you can imagine causes a lot of blood circulation issues.
I did some adjustments before like having a foot rest but even so, the foot rest was NOT high enough for me! I had a box to put my foot rest on just to suit me but that had become too annoying to use.
The solution was to get a standing desk. It was also not an easy choice for me despite having a lot of cheaper options in the market since their minimum height is still the same as my old desk. The only thing that works for me was quite expensive. T_T
It's so worth it though. I can now put my feet on the floor since the desk's minimum height is low enough for me haha and I can stand up if I want to. This is better for health in the long run since I'm also complaining about back pains and stuff.
I can easily adjust the height of the desk with the electric motors.
The cable management is also very tricky as I need to set an allowance to allow the cables to move when I adjust the height. The PC is on another table so the cables can't move along with the other table so I just let the necessary ones to be loose. That's just one of the downsides I guess, unless you buy a very big table top to fit both the PC and monitors and everything but I don't want that haha.
Another is a UPS which honestly we should have gotten from the beginning. The electricity here sucks. We don't even have proper grounding here cos that's just the standard for the country I guess. Power outages happen sometimes once a week and they aren't even scheduled so it is very much needed for us.
This UPS has a voltage regulator, surge protector, and ofc a battery so when power outages happen, I would still have time to safely shut down the PC. Also this one was NOT cheap but this is the only thing that works for my PSU right now since I have APFC PSU and it needs a pure sinewave. The other brand that was less expensive had some reviews about the wire issue that might lead to sparks and I take safety seriously so I don't want to risk any of that.
APC is a top brand when it comes to UPS and it is justifiable for me to spend this much since one wrong electricity stuff can kill the whole PC itself and I just bought a new GPU haha.
Room
I recently switched rooms with AC since it would be a lot better when it comes to the gadgets and stuff. I didn't have AC before cos I am comfortable with the room temperature and I'm sensitive to temps (I get chilly easily) but I never realized how bad it was for the computer.
I have complained about not being able to draw on my monitor properly cos I sweat easily but I have realized maybe I really just need a cooler room so the monitor won't heat up like crazy and so I can draw comfortably. I just have to wear sweaters haha.
It's so hard to move the sofa so I just let it be in the room even though it's kinda cramped cos it's big. At least we can chill here if we want to watch movies. :D
Mew loves it too and I didn't realize he's the same color as the sofa lol.
That's it really. The lights were such a nice addition and gives a really homey cozy vibe. I wanted to have these in our future house next time, but since we don't have that yet I'll pour my energy in this one room for the meantime. This took a lot of researching, planning, and deciding so it took me quite some time to figure things out. But I really like how it turned out.
