My 2024 Playstation Wrap-Up
Hello everyone! Today I want to join an initiative I saw from a GeekZone user: @danielcarrerag, where he shared his PlayStation year in review. I'm a lifelong console gamer, as I never had a powerful enough PC, so I got completely used to playing on PlayStation. I've had the privilege of enjoying each of its generations: the PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 and now the PS5.
¡Hola a todos! Hoy quiero sumarme a una iniciativa que vi de un usuario de GeekZone: @danielcarrerag, donde compartía su resumen del año. Soy un jugador de consola de toda la vida, nunca tuve una PC lo suficientemente potente, así que me acostumbré a jugar en Play. He tenido el privilegio de disfrutar de cada una de sus generaciones: la PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 y ahora la PS5.
I created my PlayStation Network account back in 2012, when I had my PlayStation 3. Back then, there wasn't even the option to choose a region for Latin America, so I registered as a US user, using an address that wasn't mine. To this day, I have not been able to change my region, which means I am still using the more expensive PlayStation Store. This year, PlayStation has decided to follow in Spotify's footsteps and release, for the first time, an annual summary of everything we've done on our PlayStation Network accounts. So here I share with you my stats for 2024!
Creé mi cuenta de PlayStation Network en 2012, cuando tenía mi PlayStation 3. En ese entonces, ni siquiera existía la opción de elegir una región para Latinoamérica, así que me registré como usuario de Estados Unidos, utilizando una dirección que no era la mía. Hasta el día de hoy, no he podido cambiar mi región, lo que significa que tengo la PlayStation Store más cara.
Este año, PlayStation ha decidido seguir los pasos de Spotify y lanzar, por primera vez, un resumen anual de todo lo que hemos hecho en nuestras cuentas de PlayStation Network. ¡Así que aquí les comparto mis estadísticas del 2024!
In the first slide provided by Sony, the number of games I've played this year is shown. Honestly, it seems to me an exaggeration the data they gave me, because I'm sure I haven't played more than 15 titles, and I haven't even completed all of them. It is likely that I have opened several games, without even playing them for a few minutes.
En la primera diapositiva que nos ofrece Sony, aparece el número de juegos que he jugado este año. Sinceramente, me parece una exageración el dato que me dieron, porque estoy seguro de que no he jugado más de 15 títulos, y ni siquiera he completado todos. Es probable que he abierto varios juegos, sin ni siquiera jugarlos unos minutos.
My first game of the year was Road 96, a short but quite entertaining indie that managed to capture my attention from the beginning, which I platinumedged.
Mi primer juego del año fue Road 96, un indie corto pero bastante entretenido que logró captar mi atención desde el inicio, al cuál le saque el platino.
In the following presentation, Sony shows us a summary of the games we have spent the most hours playing this year. While the top is pretty good, the first place is a bit misleading. I ended up racking up so many hours on that game because I left the PlayStation on to get an achievement that required a lot of in-game time.
En la siguiente presentación, Sony nos muestra un resumen de los juegos a los que más horas le he dedicado. Aunque el top está bastante bien, el primer lugar es un poco engañoso. Terminé acumulando tantas horas en ese juego porque dejé la Play encendida para conseguir un logro que requería muchísimo tiempo in-game.
Actually, the game I spent the most time playing last year was Baldur's Gate 3. I also spent several hours on FIFA 25 (unfortunately, I went back to the “casino”), Red Dead Redemption 2 and, finally, Fallout 76 multiplayer.
En realidad, el juego al que más tiempo dediqué el año pasado fue Baldur's Gate 3. También pasé varias horas en FIFA 25 (lamentablemente, volví al "casino"), Red Dead Redemption 2 y, por último, el multijugador del Fallout 76.
Sony also shows us the hours played on each of its consoles. I started the year playing on the PlayStation 4, but in the middle of the year I was lucky enough to be able to buy the PlayStation 5, which I brought from abroad.
Sony también nos muestra las horas jugadas en cada una de sus consolas. Comencé el año jugando en la PlayStation 4, pero a mitad de año tuve la suerte de poder comprarme la PlayStation 5, que traje del exterior.
In Argentina, tech products are usually significantly overpriced due to import taxes, so bringing it over was the best option for me. Switching to the PS5 was a big leap, and it certainly marked the second half of my year as a gamer.
En Argentina, los productos tecnológicos suelen tener un sobreprecio significativo debido a los impuestos de importación, así que traerla fue la mejor opción para mí. Pasar a la PS5 fue un gran salto, y sin duda marcó la segunda mitad de mi año como jugador..
Now we come to my favorite part: the trophies won this year. In total, I totaled 621 trophies. Many of us PlayStation gamers enjoy collecting them, either to compete with friends or just for the pleasure of having them. For those who don't know, a platinum is achieved by completing all the trophies in a video game, which often involves finishing the game with 100% of its content.
Ahora llegamos a mi parte favorita: los trofeos obtenidos este año. En total, sumé 621 trofeos. Muchos jugadores de PlayStation disfrutamos coleccionarlos, ya sea para competir con amigos o simplemente por el placer de tenerlos. Para quienes no lo sepan, un platino se consigue al completar todos los trofeos de un videojuego, lo que muchas veces implica terminar el juego al 100% de su contenido
There are people who tend to get the easiest platinums, of few hours of duration... In my case, I only get the platinum of the games I really like. This year I got 9 platinums, being Baldur's Gate 3 the longest and the one I enjoyed the most.
Hay personas que suelen sacar los platinos más fáciles, de pocas horas de duración.. En mi caso, solo saco el platino de los juegos que realmente me gustan. Este año logré 9 platinos, siendo el más largo y el que más disfruté el de Baldur's Gate 3.
Trophies are also the only reason I keep playing on PlayStation. My account has more than 40 platinums and a pretty high level, since I've been platinating games for six years now. This “addiction” for trophies also leads me to pay quite high prices for games, since on PlayStation they are usually much more expensive compared to PC, where everything is more accessible.
Los trofeos son, además, la única razón por la que sigo jugando en PlayStation. Mi cuenta tiene más de 40 platinos y un nivel bastante alto, ya que llevo platinando juegos desde hace seis años. Esta "adicción" por los trofeos también me lleva a pagar precios bastante elevados por los juegos, ya que en PlayStation suelen ser mucho más caros en comparación con PC, donde todo es más accesible.
To give you an idea, I even went so far as to buy a PlayStation 3 just to play Fallout: New Vegas and get its platinum. This game, which is over ten years old, was quite expensive for me, but the experience and the achievement was worth it.
Para que se hagan una idea, incluso llegué a comprar una PlayStation 3 solo para jugar a Fallout: New Vegas y conseguir su platino. Este juego, que tiene más de diez años, me salió bastante caro, pero la experiencia y el logro lo valieron.
We are coming to the end of this brief summary of my year at PlayStation. I have been attracted by Sony's idea of making a summary of the whole year, it would also be good that for next year they will add new statistics.
