Hello hivers,
I was just thinking about what the best thing to have for breakfast was. I am thinking frugally now.. like what is the cheapest, yet healthiest option.. but, there are also considerations such as taste and satiation.
These days I admit I am NOT eating the best. For breakfast this morning I had coffee (good, I think) and frozen french toast sticks. (not so good) I admit that I tend to reach for things that are fast and easy, and that also taste real good. (pop tarts anyone?)
But when there are no sugary easy to zap or toast options available, I do go with a true cheap, yet more healthy choice..
A bowl of oatmeal is pretty cost friendly and fills me up (not really, but holds of the tummy grumbling) and it is a healthy option in my mind. btw, anyone else cook theirs in the bowl with hot coffee like me, too?
Oatmeal is pretty inexpensive when bought in bulk, not the fancy pre-packaged microwave ones. I put raisins in mine.
Besides oatmeal for a good carb feed in the morning, I reckon eggs offer a good, cheap protein source. I don't currently eat eggs for breakfast (I do for lunch tho), but would eat em for breakfast whenever my mom or someone was making some. (could be just fried, boiled, in omelet form or whatever)
In the future I plan to have chickens and eat eggs often.
So, what do you all think is the best breakfast? It could be based on facts.. as in healthiest, or might be cheapest.. save $$$, or maybe just what is your favorite thing to have. :)
