There are fears that with the passing of time I have been overcoming, however this passing of time has generated me other fears of which I will tell you some below:

What is that fear that generates intense terror in you?

Since I began to step on the threshold of 50, my body has begun to change, now it hurts where it did not hurt before and there are activities that I do normally, but I end up extremely exhausted which did not happen before. Being aware of these changes, one of my biggest fears is Not Being Self-Sufficient when I am an old lady. I panic at the thought that I will have to depend on others for such basic things as bathing and eating. I panic at the thought of being bedridden when I am an old lady.

Likewise, I am terrified that my memories will be erased due to degeneration. I do not want my mind to go blank and forget those I love or forget who I am and the history I have created throughout my life. This is terribly cruel and sad to see a person suffering from this malady.

However, I am taking steps to combat this fear. Some of these measures are doing age-appropriate exercise, eating as organic and healthy as possible, giving up refined sugar, reading and posting on Hive to keep my brain sharp and active. I'll let you know if it worked or not when I'm 90. hehe!

Another of my fears has to do with my work as a pastry chef. Sometimes I am asked to make cakes of two tiers or more for events such as 15 years or weddings that require a lot of time and care, besides that, they are very expensive cakes, so it gives me an intense terror that a cake of this type, for some reason, falls at the time it is moving in a car, ruining all the work and I can not fix it. Just the thought of one of my clients not receiving their cake on such a significant celebration in their life makes me panic. However, I try to take every precaution to prevent this type of accident from happening to me.

I know that fear is a feeling of distrust that leads us to think that something negative is going to happen in the future, this can be real or imaginary and it is a condition that we must learn to face. But, fear is also a defense system that can protect us from some real danger and keep us alive.

Hay miedos que con el pasar del tiempo he ido superando, sin embargo este pasar del tiempo me ha generado otros miedos de los cuales les contaré algunos a continuación:

¿Cuál es ese miedo que te genera un terror intenso?

Desde que empecé a pisar el umbral de los 50, mi cuerpo ha empezado a cambiar, ahora me duele donde antes no me dolía y hay actividades que realizo con normalidad, pero termino sumamente extenuada lo que no me sucedía anteriormente. Al ser consciente de estos cambios, uno de mis mayores miedos es No Ser Autosuficiente cuando sea una anciana. Siento pánico al pesar que tendré que depender de otros para cosas tan básicas como bañarme o comer. Siento pánico de solo pensar quedarme postrada cuando sea una viejita.

Igualmente, me genera terror que mis recuerdos se vayan borrando debido a la degeneración. No quiero que mi mente se quede en blanco y olvidar a quienes amo u olvidar quien soy y la historia que he creado en el transcurso de toda mi vida. Esto es terriblemente cruel y triste ver a una persona padeciendo este mal.

Sin embargo, estoy tomando medidas para combatir ese miedo. Alguna de estas medidas son hacer ejercicios adecuados para mi edad, alimentarme lo más orgánico y sano posible, dejar de consumir azúcar refinada, leer y publicar en Hive para mantener siempre mi cerebro lúcido y activo. Ya les contaré si funcionó o no cuando tenga 90 años. ¡Jeje!

Otro de mis miedos tiene que ver con mi trabajo como repostera. A veces me encargan tortas de dos pisos o más para eventos como unos 15 años o bodas que requieren una decoración a la que hay que invertirle mucho tiempo y cuidado además de eso, son pasteles muy costosos, por ende me da un terror intenso que una torta de este tipo, por alguna razón, se caiga en el momento que se está trasladando en un carro, se arruine todo el trabajo y no pueda arreglarlo. El solo pensar que uno de mis clientes no reciba su torta en una celebración tan significativa en su vida, me da pánico. Sin embargo, trato de tomar todas las precauciones para evitar que me suceda este tipo de accidentes.

Sé que el miedo es un sentimiento de desconfianza que nos lleva a pensar que va a suceder algo negativo en el futuro, esto puede ser real o imaginario y es una condición que debemos aprender a afrontar. Pero, el miedo también es un sistema de defensa que nos puede proteger de algún peligro real y mantenernos vivos.
