Keto Breakfast
I've been doing kind of a "keto" diet in the past week and a half, and it's been going very well may I add, and I've overcome the beginning stages of nagging hunger. My body has adjusted to the new nutrition and eating routine so it's much easier now.
I figured I've been eating too many eggs per week, so I broke it up with some keto cereal today. I never eat cereal normally, and I don't drink milk, so it wasn't my favourite meal to be honest. However, this keto version actually wasn't bad.
The actual cereal itself is made of dried clumps of berries and nuts. I thought it was quite hilarious how it ticks so many boxes; organic, vegan, gluten free, grain free, sugar free, palm oil free, "activated (no idea what that means, I hope it doesn't mean I'm eating charcoal, lol), and low carb! It's the perfect cereal! haha. Except, of course, you have a nut allergy I suppose.
The "milk" was just as impressive, ticking a whole bunch of boxes too. It consists of just 3 natural ingredients; spring water, organic almonds and sea salt. The end. Nothing else. Of course it tastes absolutely nothing like milk, how could it?, but it's clearly also vegan, gluten free and free of everything apart from nuts.
To date, oat milk is the closest to real milk of these alternatives, but this almond milk is the most "pure" I've found so far. Some of the other alternatives tend to add some stuff into it, some times well-meaning - like vitamins and minerals to "fortify" it, but I'd rather do my own fortifying thank you :)
While the milk wasn't that great, it actually worked with this cereal. About a couple of minutes after the cereal soaked into the milk, it became like very light yoghurt and was actually quite pleasant. It's best consumed cold though, otherwise it doesn't taste that great.
Taste aside, it's an extremely Instagramable combo though :)
Peace & Love,
