As the title, its laksa, a popular dish origin from Singapore. In fact, laksa is incredibly famous. Who doesn't know laksa? Its common found in various noodle brands, and it's incredibly refreshing.
But did you know that I don't live in Singapore, but in Medan, located at the northern tip of Sumatra? Laksa restaurants might seem unfamiliar to us, but we know what laksa is.
I was introduced to it by a food vlogger whose video I accidentally saw. I was curious; she's a tourist who loves traveling the world and seeking out food, but what's even more unique is that she's promoting laksa in Medan, instead of her hometown of Singapore. For me, this was a stroke of destiny.
I immediately thought of nothing else but to head there immediately. About a week after watching that, I came to Jalan Yose Rizal and found the restaurant, the only one selling laksa along the road. Wow, the name alone is so simple, it's taken from the street name.
As you know, laksa is a food with mackerel broth flavor. Its cook with various spices to create a sour and aromatic flavor. I think tomatoes also have a strong connection to the taste, as it tastes like canned mackerel commonly found in supermarkets.
Laksa is a noodle dish with a texture similar to udon, but smaller than udon. The combination of the noodles is also similar to ramen, in my opinion. Then I noticed a truly enormous torch ginger (kecombrang). A double-sized bowl of this would be the best lunch of the day!
Besides laksa, they sell a variety of other dishes, but we finished with a sweet dessert, "es campur." It was a very hot day, so it was a great way to refresh our mouth and throat with this. Wow, it was delicious!
They also served traditional cakes. I was intrigue and try one wrap in banana leaves. It's called lemper because it's filled with grilled chicken and sticky rice.
The place is very simple and old. It's great to know about a place or restaurant like this.
