Toast-astic! A Review of Janji Jiwa's Egg Salad Toast and Milk Coffee

I had high hopes!

For someone who enjoys any egg sandwiches for breakfast, I had the chance to try Egg Salad Toast by Janji Jiwa. It is one of their recent menu and often is paired with either milk coffee or their americano selection and for non-coffee lovers, teas and fizzy drinks are available to pair them with. The other day, I bought exactly a combo of sweet cold coffee with the egg salad sandwich.

When the sandwich arrived, it was a little disappointing. The picture showed that it would include a garnish of chopped chives but when it came, it was a little too plain. Meanwhile, the picture that I am featuring here is a modified version of it. I was giving the sandwich garnish by cutting up chives from my balcony garden 😂

Taking a bite, it was actually not that bad. The egg was fluffy enough and the sauce definitely was balanced. It wasn’t overpowering but what I really appreciated was the bread that wasn’t a letdown. It wasn’t soggy and buttery. It definitely goes well with the cold iced coffee and it was such a cool and refreshing contrast to the sandwich. This combination was another perfect meal to start the day and a mood booster too.

There are many toast places in town but so far, this one was the best of them all. I know, in bigger cities and metro areas, this would be the lowest low but considering how small this place is, they are the top tier in the area with the bread that isn’t soggy with butter.

You can easily make this sandwich at home too. It’s not that hard as long as you have boiled egg, mayo and mustard for the sauce and a good bread. The coffee is also something simple to make, so in any case you want to make any gourmet cafe-like food, some of them aren’t that hard and pretty simple to make, just like this egg salad sandwich.
