Hello friends hivers, welcome to this new post where I will tell you about a typical breakfast from the plains region of Venezuela, it is the Orejitas, they are like sweet arepas, prepared with corn flour.
They have this name because they look like ears, lol. The comparison is not very nice, but they are delicious, I usually call them fried sweet arepas. In this post I'm going to tell you how I prepare them.
Preparation of Orejitas
Ingredients: Water, corn flour, pinch of salt, sugar to taste and pinch of cinnamon.
Preparation
I mix all the dry ingredients and add water until I have a consistency that I can knead and make dough balls, which is moldable. I usually let the mixture rest and then add another little bit of water if needed.
After the dough is ready, prepare some balls and put the oil to heat.
We make a thin arepa and place it to fry. We are very attentive to turn it over because its cooking is very fast and it can burn.
They bulge and it is at that moment that I turn it into the shape of an ear, I take it with two forks and press it.
Then I place them on a napkin to absorb the oil and then I serve them.
Traditionally they are served with cheese and are very delicious.

Desayunando con Orejitas con queso
Hola amigos hivers, bienvenidos a este nuevo post donde les hablaré sobre un desayuno típico de la región de los llanos de Venezuela, se trata de las Orejitas, son como arepas dulces, preparadas a base de harina de maíz.
Llevan este nombre porque parecen unas orejas, lol. No es muy agradable la comparación, pero son deliciosas, generalmente les digo arepas dulces fritas. En este post te voy a contar como las preparo.
Preparación de Orejitas
Ingredientes: Agua, harina de maíz, pizca de sal, azúcar al gusto y pizca de canela.
Preparación:
Mezclo todos los ingredientes secos y les voy agregando agua hasta tener una consistencia que se pueda amasar y hacer bolas de masa, que sea moldeable. Generalmente dejo reposar la mezcla y después le agrego otro poquito de agua en el caso de que lo necesite.
Después que la masa está lista se preparan unas bolitas y colocamos el aceite a calentar.
Hacemos una arepa delgada y la colocamos a freír. Estamos muy atentos de voltearla porque su cocción es muy rápida y se puede quemar.
Ellas se abomban y es en ese momento en que la convierto en forma de oreja, la tomo con dos tenedores y le hago presión.
Después las coloco sobre una servilleta para que absorba el aceite y luego las sirvo.
Tradicionalmente se acompañan con queso y son muy deliciosas.
Este tipo de comida no suele prepararlas frecuentemente, pero me gusta comerlas para recordar las tradiciones de mi ciudad natal. ¿Has comido Orejitas o una comida similar?
