How are you? I hope all is well! Today, let me share my food experience in Baguio City, the summer capital of the Philippines. This is actually my second time in Baguio, my first trip was in 2022, which I also shared here.
The last time I was in Baguio, I was with my friends. This time, I had the chance to visit the city with my family (although not complete) as we were there to celebrate my sister's birthday.
The whole trip was a chill one, meaning we didn’t plan to visit as many places as possible. Instead, we took our time to look around, take in the views, and, most importantly, explore the food scene. And that’s exactly what I’ll be sharing today.
Good Taste Restaurant
When you talk about food in Baguio, Good Taste Restaurant will always be part of the conversation. It’s probably the most famous restaurant in the city. My sister and I have been to Baguio before but on separate trips, and we’ve both tried this resto already. However, there’s something about this place that makes me want to go back whenever we visit the city.
Their servings always exceed expectations. The amount of food I had three years ago is surprisingly the same as it is now. The quality of the food they serve is also chef’s kiss, all at a very reasonable price! No wonder this place is always packed, not only with tourists but also with locals.
Café Sabel
During our visit to BenCab Museum, we decided to have lunch at their in-house café, Café Sabel. This was my first time trying their food, and boy, did they not disappoint! The three of us agreed that everything we ordered was delicious, although the prices were slightly higher than those of usual cafés.

Aside from the aesthetic of the place, the café offers a breathtaking view of the Benguet mountains. The weather was gloomy, and we even got to witness fog creeping over the mountain across the museum, adding to the cozy ambiance.
Chocolate de Batirol
After a stroll in Camp John Hay, a hot chocolate in the cold weather was the perfect treat. I had been wanting to try the famous Chocolate de Batirol for a long time, but I wasn’t able to during my last visit because it was too crowded at dinnertime.
This time, we attempted to walk from Camp John Hay’s Cemetery of Negativism to the café since we found out it was just inside Camp John Hay. However, we quickly realized how vast the camp was, so we decided to hail a cab midway.
Once seated, we ordered none other than the Traditional Blend; a hot chocolate drink made from local cacao beans, served in silver pots, and stirred with a batirol, or a wooden whisk with a long handle and spiky head. We also got Suman de Lihia, a Filipino rice delicacy wrapped in banana leaves, topped with grated coconut and muscovado sugar.
Luisa's Cafe
Right in the heart of the city, along Session Road, sits Luisa’s Café. I discovered this place through a feature by Erwan Heussaff, a well-known personality in the Philippines. However, my sister had already known about this café even before it gained popularity.
Stepping into Luisa’s Café felt like entering the café from the book Before the Coffee Gets Cold, or at least, that’s how it seemed to me!
We tried their famous Luisa’s Special Mami. Maybe my expectations were too high, as I didn’t find anything particularly special about it but it was savory and tasty, at least. But one thing’s for sure: the hot soup was incredibly comforting in Baguio’s cold weather. Overall, it was a memorable experience.
Vizco's
Last but definitely not least! After dining at Luisa’s Café, we wanted some panghimagas, and the best place for desserts along Session Road is none other than Vizco’s! My sister and I had been here before because, let’s be honest, no one can skip this place when visiting Baguio, it’s a must-visit! Since it was my father’s first time in the city, we made sure he got to try it too.
My papa and I are both ice cream lovers, so naturally, I ordered chocolate fudge ice cream while he went for ube ice cream. My sister got the strawberry shortcake and ended up sharing it with us. 😋
Baguio’s food scene never fails to impress. Whether it’s classic comfort food, hot chocolate on a chilly day, or a slice of the famous strawberry cake, every bite feels like a warm hug in the cold mountain air. Exploring these restaurants made our trip even more special, and I can’t wait to go back for more food adventures! If you ever find yourself in Baguio, don’t miss out on these delicious spots!
