Week on Hive

In the Spotlight
Taking Care of New Hive Users
You know there was an initiative recently for Hivers to put together various training materials on different topics? I talked about it in one of the previous Hive news roundups too.
Well... that started to be put together into something concrete. And that is the checkinwith.xyz app. If you log into the app with one of your Hive accounts, you see the accounts who joined Hive via the app recently and their welcome bonuses. You can see here who someone need to take a selfie with to get the welcome bonus as a new Hiver on Checkinwith, and what are the next steps.
From the app, users have access to the different training lessons, but it looks like there is more than that. Once the user is approved, an automated system will start sending them comments with the next tasks to perform, that should take them through the training.
Speaking of CheckInWith, it seems to be the preferred method to onboard new people at the HiveHub hostel in Guatemala.
There is now a custom feed created for Hivers joining from that place if you want to check them out. Here's a short discussion with one of the new Hivers, btw.
In the meantime, our Hive voluteers and the owner of the hostel divulge more plans for the near future. A neighborhood dog was eavesdropping too.
Marketing / Awareness / Branding / Meetings
HiveCubaCon in August
Hive Cuba announced this year's HiveCubaCon crypto event for 30 August, in Havana.
First Speakers from Hive Summit
@detlev announced the first few speakers for the Hive Summit in Aachen scheduled for 22-24 August, where they plan to have 50+ people from all around the Web3 space.

News From VSC: Liquid HBD Staking Coming
We have news from VSC! HBD staking is now functional on VSC, and therefore, Altera (I just tested it). But right now it is normal HBD staking, with a 3-day unlocking period on unstaking. They will have ("soon") a token sHBD representing staked HBD tokens on VSC, which can be freely traded at any time.
They also made the first EVM wallet test transactions with Altera, we learned from Discord.
LEO Buybacks Began
After the inflation of LEO was stopped, buybacks started from revenues of Inleo. Threads of @leo.alerts seem to show the multiple buybacks happening every day that get LEO holders excited.
Ecency's New Editor FAQ
Got questions? They have answers.
MenO Is Building: HiveSnaps, PoS, ...?
@meno has built HiveSnaps which should be his personal implementation of "snaps" as a mobile app, and needs some beta testers. He also seems to eye a PoS on Hive too, with the help of his brother—an experienced developer.
New Version of Nectar Engine
Version 0.1.0 of nectarengine is fully typed, which makes it easier to maintain by its author and to use by other developers because of type hints.
Its developer is asking those who used nectarengine before to test the new version for bugs.
Various Tools
Besides Nectar Engine, @thecrazygm published posts about his work on certain tools, like:
- the curation tool
And two simple scripts:
- a CLI notification script for Hive
- a markdown viewer for a given post
Some News About POSH
POSH is getting closer to its max cap. See how things stand now, and a glimpse into the future.
Games
Crowrend Became a New Game
Crownrend had a major upgrade (perhaps somewhat inspired by the success of Moon?). There is no official announcement post yet, which likely means devs are still tweaking things out before creating one.
Rising Star Scaled Down
Rising Star scaled down its infrastructure which was too costly for its current needs, and everything seems to be in order. They also created a community account where anyone can send their their dust tokens or anything they want to, to support the game.
Week in the Crypto World
Tokenized US Stocks in the EU
The EU is, as usual, quicker at regulating things. In this case, it gave us a head start in accessing tokenized stocks: US-listed stocks tokenized and made available through US-based platforms, Gemini and Robinhood. Gemini is first to the market, while Robinhood will provide the same service using Arbitrum at the backend.
Hype-Building May Have Started Around Alts
I read two pieces of news last week that may be meant to pull alts from their pits. One is about a strategy copying Microstrategy on Ethereum. The other in the meantime received approval from the SEC and we've got the first approved Solana staking ETF.
