Do you believe in Karma? Does life give you what you deserve? Do we get back what we give? When we smile does the world smile with us? Do you believe in multiple lives? These are just some of the questions we can ask when we try to decide if life is fair or not!? Everyone has heard a child cry out that something "is not fair". Why do you think they say that, and what do they really mean? What is fair anyway? I can remember trying to reason with one such child who wanted an exactly equal portion of chocolate dessert to his Sister who was several years and many inches his senior. Of course i was only playing with him, but tried to see if explaining that it was indeed fair that she has more cake since she is bigger. It didn’t go down well, and i do wonder if his judgement of what is fair or not was biased or not .:) Of course it was!
So this week we dive in this this great question, the answer to which could deliver us to contentment or angst! Reaping what we sew is perhaps the most interesting aspect of this question to me. It hasn’t escaped my notice that some people have a habit of attracting very bad luck in so many ways. Usually this relates to people, and in my opinion the way we relate to each other. The outcome of our interactions with others is largely dependant on how we approach them, how we speak and relate to them, and what we put out. If we put out love we tend to get love back. If we put out anger we tend to get anger back.. That is unless we live under an oppressive guardian, partner, or government.
There are people who are born in such different circumstances and environments. We can look at someone born in North Korea for example.. We can see a great difference in freedoms, rights, privileges and more. Is that fair? Is it fair that just being born into a family with great wealth can change everything about your life. Is it fair that the colour of our skin can determine what opportunities we have, or how we are perceived. Should fairness mean that we all have the same things, or that we have what we need?
There are so many ways to look at this weeks question and I invite you all to answer with your personal stories and experience. Please do share your own experience and how you have felt. Maybe you felt life was unfair to you and wish to share about it. Maybe you managed to turn things around somehow, either your experiences or perception of how things are. I would love to hear what fairness means to you!
