En mi último trabajo, me encargaba de la administración directa de los asuntos laborales de cuatro equipos de trabajo, de un total de 12, los cuales se dividían entre mis otros dos compañeros con las mismas responsabilidades. Una de las premisas que se había impuesto por uno de nuestros supervisores inmediato, era la de no darle mucha atención o importancia a las dudas que a veces los empleados tenían, limitándonos a resolver y atender lo esencial de nuestras funciones, aduciendo para esto, que ninguno de ellos eran familia nuestra. Pero a mí me encantaba ver a los chicos de mis equipos conformes con sus dudas y siempre fui diligente en resolver cualquier asunto, por muy pequeño que fuera. En una ocasión, se presentó una duda sobre un pago a cierto grupo que ya había dejado de prestar servicios en la empresa. Por la naturaleza de un trabajo específico que habían hecho, les correspondía un pago adicional establecido en el contrato y el cual fue ignorado en el momento de su liquidación. Me consultaron de manera privada, porque sabían que me gustaba ayudar a resolver esos aspectos y este equipo no estaba bajo mi responsabilidad. En una reunión donde presente el resultado de lo que se debía hacer para subsanar esta falta, nuestro jefe me pregunto:

— ¿Qué pasa si no les pagamos eso?— debido a que no se conocía reclamo por esta falta de pago y que al tratarse de una sub contratación, este concepto ya había sido cancelado por nuestro cliente. Yo le respondí en ese entonces:

— Si no les pagamos y no se enteran, no pasa nada. Si no les pagamos, pero se enteran y no reclaman, tampoco pasaría nada. Ahora, si nos les pagamos, se enteran y nos demandan el concepto, habrá que pagarles de todos modos, porque es un derecho legal generado por el contrato y que ya hemos cobrado.

Siempre fui muy cuidadoso del respeto a las condiciones legales de los contratos y esto me trajo muchos inconvenientes con mis colegas, que preferían hacerse de la vista gorda e ignorar esos detalles que beneficiarían a quienes no eran "familia nuestra". Es un aspecto que considero positivo para mí y que no era bien visto por mis compañeros de trabajo.

One of the premises that had been imposed by one of our immediate supervisors, was not to give much attention or importance to the doubts that sometimes the employees had, limiting ourselves to solve and attend to the essential of our functions, arguing that none of them were our family. But I loved to see the guys in my teams satisfied with their doubts and I was always diligent in resolving any issue, no matter how small it was. On one occasion, a question arose about a payment to a certain group that had already left the company. Due to the nature of a specific job they had done, they were entitled to an additional payment established in the contract, which was ignored at the time of their liquidation. I was consulted privately, because they knew that I liked to help resolve these issues and this team was not under my responsibility. In a meeting where I presented the result of what had to be done to remedy this fault, our boss asked me:

— What happens if we do not pay them for this? — because there was no known claim for this non-payment and since it was a subcontracting, this concept had already been paid by our client. I replied at that time:

— If we don't pay them and they don't find out, nothing happens. If we do not pay them, but they find out and do not claim, nothing would happen either. Now, if we do not pay them, they find out and sue us for the concept, we will have to pay them anyway, because it is a legal right generated by the contract and that we have already collected.

I was always very careful to respect the legal conditions of the contracts and this brought me many inconveniences with my colleagues, who preferred to turn a blind eye and ignore those details that would benefit those who were not "our family". This is an aspect that I consider positive for me and that was not well seen by my coworkers.
