I swear that until I checked the previous post and saw the dates I didn't think it had been so long since I last put this white fabric "just in case". I have a lot of fabric scraps that meet the just-in-case condition and quite a few of them are waiting their turn to be worn one day. I'm making an effort to use them all, even if it's stuffing for pillows, but there are some other very nice ones that deserve to be transformed into a beautiful project. Finally now, after so much time, that project that "someday I would do with this fabric" materialized and it's about this white bra with a hook in the front. Hope you like it ❤️.
Juro que hasta que no chequeé la publicación anterior y vi las fechas no creía que había pasado tanto tiempo desde la última vez que guardé esta tela blanca "por si acaso". Tengo un montón de retazos de telas que cumplen la condición de por si acaso y bastantes de ellas estan esperando su turno de ser usadas algún día. Me estoy esforzando para usarlas todas, aunque sea de relleno en almohadones, pero hay algunas otras muy lindas que merecen transformarse en un proyecto hermoso. Finalmente ahora, después de tanto tiempo, ese proyecto que "algún día haría con esta tela" se materializó y se trata de este corpiño blanco con apertura al frente. Espero que les guste ❤️.
This white piece was one that I had left over after making the crop-top that I shared in this post from October 2020. Since I had made that shirt so small, I still had a rectangle big enough to do something else and that's why I kept it, not knowing that it would take more than two years until that happens. But better late than never, so now I have a white bra in my wardrobe, which is very useful to me since I didn't have any in this color 😅.
Este retazo blanco era uno que me sobró después de haber hecho el crop-top que compartí en esta publicación de octubre 2020. Como había hecho tan pequeña esa remera, aún me quedaba un rectángulo bastante grande como para hacer alguna cosa más y por eso la guardé, sin saber que pasarían más de dos años hasta que eso pase. Pero mejor tarde que nunca, así que ahora tengo un corpiño blanco en mi guardarropas, el cual me es muy útil ya que no tenía ninguno de este color 😅.
This fabric has a kind of embroidery and with small holes, so I had to be quite careful when cutting the pieces to make it symmetrical. Symmetry is very important when making any garment and it is something I like to pay attention to. Maybe no one notices, but I do, so I take the time to make it right 😅.
Esta tela tiene una especie de bordado y con pequeños agujeros, por lo que tuve que ser bastante cuidadosa al momento de cortar las piezas para que quede simétrico. La simetría es muy importante a la hora de confeccionar cualquier prenda y es algo a lo que me gusta prestarle atención. Quizás nadie lo nota, pero yo sí así que me tomo el tiempo para que salga bien 😅.
One of the main problems with making a white bra was that I don't have white supplies to do it since I always buy everything black. This caused me to modify the design of the bodice and close the back because it did not have a white two-position clasp. When making a change to this style, it is necessary to go back to the pattern of the garment and take care that the total length of the bust contour is kept correct: otherwise, the bodice may be too small 😶.
Uno de los principales problemas de confeccionar un corpíño blanco fue que no tengo insumos blancos para hacerlo ya que siempre compro todo negro. Esto hizo que tenga que modificar el diseño del corpiño y cerrarle la espalda porque no tenía un broche de dos posiciones blanco. Cuando se hace una modificación de este estilo es necesario volver a la moldería de la prenda y tener la precaución de que el largo total del contorno del busto se mantenga correcto: de otra forma, el corpiño puede quedar demasiado pequeño 😶.
Regarding the white elastics, I still had a bit of them left over from when I made the party top for my sister's birthday. One of them had dyed it with brown so it's not as shiny, but it still looked good on this garment. One of the reasons I don't use a lot of white thread is because my machine makes it dirty, but apparently this time she didn't bother because the garment came out pretty clean ❤️.
Con respecto a los elásticos claros, aún tenía un poco de ellos que me sobraron de cuando hice el top de fiesta para el cumpleaños de mi hermana. Uno de ellos lo había teñido con café para que no sea tan brillante, pero igual quedó bien en esta prenda. Una de las razones por las que no uso mucho hilo blanco es porque mi máquina lo ensucia, pero aparentemente esta vez tenía ganas de no molestarme porque la prenda salió bastante limpia ❤️.
To be able to open and close the garment I sewed a detachable hook on the neckline: I bought these to make the harnesses but they also served me well in this project. As I said before, I had to measure the final length of the bodice well to continue maintaining the correct size. In the meantime I was trying it on and everything was going well 😃.
Para poder abrir y cerrar la prenda cosí un gancho desmontable en el escote: estos los compré para hacer los arneses pero también me sirvieron en este proyecto. Como dije antes, tuve que medir bien el largo final del corpiño para seguir manteniedo el talle correcto. En el mientras tanto me lo iba probando y todo marchaba bien 😃.
Since I didn't have white elastic for a strap, I had to buy some armed straps. For that I had to sew small pieces of elastic on the garment that serve to hook them. In the bras that I normally make, the straps are fixed, but these can be replaced by others of a different color if one day I need it 😘.
Como no tenía elástico blanco para bretel, tuve que comprar unos breteles armados. Para eso tuve que coser en la prenda pequeños trozos de elástico que sirvan para engancharlos. En los corpiños que yo hago normalmente, los breteles están fijos, pero estos podran reemplazarse por otros de algún otro color si algún día lo necesito 😘.
Finally, this is how the finished garment turned out. I really liked how it turned out, it's comfortable and the fabric is very pretty. This bra is for everyday use, I don't have that many of those so it was very welcome in my underwear collection ❤️.
Finalmente, así es como quedó la prenda terminada. Me gustó bastante como quedó, es cómodo y la tela es muy linda. Este corpiño es de uso diario, no tengo tantos de esos así que fue muy bienvenido a mi colección de ropa interior ❤️.
Before I say goodbye, I'll share with you a pretty typical behind the scenes when I do my sewing posts. Every time I walk away from the table with my tablecloth, a cat appears sleeping on it. They also want to be protagonists 😅.
Antes de despedirme, compartiré con ustedes un detrás de escena bastante típico cuando hago mis posts de costura. Cada vez que me alejo de la mesa con mi mantel, un gato aparece durmiendo en él. Ellos también quieren ser protagonistas 😅.
Although my patchwork box is still pretty full, I'm glad to have one less fabric and one more project. Making this bra took me about two hours in which my concentration was maximum because I wanted to finish it quickly. I'm not going to say that I'm already a professional at this but now I master all the techniques quite quickly: this is the product of having made dozens of sets of underwear. And surely there will be many more ❤️.
Si bien mi caja de retazos sigue bastante llena, me alegra tener una tela menos y un proyecto más. Hacer este corpiño me tomó unas dos horas en las que mi concentración fue máxima porque quería terminarlo rápido. No voy a decir que ya soy profesional en esto pero ahora domino todas las técnicas bastante rápido: este es el producto de haber confeccionado decenas de conjuntos de ropa interior. Y seguramente serán muchas más ❤️.
