Uno de los superhéroes más originales y emblemáticos de toda la historia del comic es por supuesto Hulk, pues se trata de un hombre (Brush Banner), que físicamente es débil, posee un carácter apacible y un gran intelecto, pero que luego de exponerse a radiación gamma debido a un accidente, desarrolla una especie de doble identidad que le hace compartir su cuerpo físico con una segunda personalidad, la cual le es intelectualmente muy inferior, pero que al tomar control de su cuerpo, le otorga una fortaleza física incalculable e increíble, convirtiéndolo en una poderosa bestia de color verde. Esto ocurre cuando Banner es sometido a un alto grado estrés.
El comienzo de Hulk en el UCM
La historia de Hulk en el Universo Cinematográfico de Marvel (UCM), se inició con la película El increíble Hulk protagonizada por Edward Norton y que se estrenó en junio del año 2008, solo un par de meses después de Iron Man, que fue la película que dio inicio a todo este universo compartido.
No se debe confundir con Hulk de 2003, un film protagonizado por Eric Bana y producido por Universal Pictures, que aunque por supuesto trata sobre el personaje de Marvel Comics, no forma parte del conjunto de largometrajes producidos por Marvel Studios como parte de esta nutrida saga de adaptaciones live action de los superhéroes de Marvel.
En esa película en solitario del personaje, se narró su historia de origen, mostrando como el Dr. Bruce Banner obtuvo su peculiar dualidad de identidad, en la que al elevar su ritmo cardiaco por estrés, excitación o enojo, se transforma en Hulk. Allí se muestra su relación con El General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross y su hija Elizabeth "Betty" Ross, quien es su gran interés amoroso.

The beginning of the Hulk in the MCU
The history of Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), began with the movie The Incredible Hulk starring Edward Norton and which was released in June 2008, just a couple of months after Iron Man, which was the movie that started this whole shared universe.
It should not be confused with the Hulk of 2003, a film starring Eric Bana and produced by Universal Pictures, which, although of course it deals with the Marvel Comics character, is not part of the set of feature films produced by Marvel Studios as part of this large saga of live action adaptations of Marvel superheroes.
In that solo movie of the character, his origin story was narrated, showing how Dr. Bruce Banner obtained his peculiar duality of identity, in which by raising his heart rate due to stress, excitement or anger, he transforms into the Hulk. Además, en este film se le enfrenta a abominación, un villano a su altura con características similares a las de Hulk e incluso superiores en cuanto a fortaleza. En lo que se refiere a la acción, los antagonistas, la relación sentimental con Betty y las características generales del personaje esta es una entrega bastante correcta en mi opinión.
No obstante, El increíble Hulk ha sido bastante marginada, al punto que muchas personas no saben que también forma parte del UCM, esto se debe a que no tuvo éxito en la taquilla, su guion tenía varios fallos importantes y lo peor de todo, es que el actor Edward Norton no congenió debidamente con el personaje y el estudio, por lo que no continuaría en las siguientes entregas de este universo, siendo reemplazado por Mark Ruffalo.
De modo que, habiendo debutado con el pie izquierdo, en adelante se abandonarían varios elementos que formaron parte de esa primera entrega y que debieron haber sido desarrollados en otras películas individuales, las cuales hasta ahora no han visto la luz y probablemente no lo hagan. Entre otros aspectos inconclusos destaca la relación sentimental con Betty Ross y la rivalidad con el padre de esta, el general Ross.

However, The Incredible Hulk has been quite marginalized, to the point that many people do not know that it is also part of the MCU, this is because it was not successful at the box office, its script had several important flaws and worst of all, it is that the actor Edward Norton did not agree properly with the character and the study, so he would not continue in the following installments of this universe, being replaced by Mark Ruffalo.
So, having debuted on the left foot, various elements that were part of that first installment and that should have been developed in other individual films would be abandoned from now on, which until now have not seen the light and probably will not. Among other unfinished aspects, the sentimental relationship with Betty Ross and the rivalry with her father, General Ross, stands out.

Su mejor momento
Esa falta de continuidad en la narrativa del personaje de por si es un aspecto bastante negativo, sin embargo, con la llegada de Ruffalo por fin la interpretación de este extraño héroe logro empatizar definitivamente con el público. Me parece que, obviando el abandono de su historia previa, el desarrollo que se le dio a Hulk durante las fases 1 y 2 del UCM estuvo bastante bien, por lo que no lo describiré para no alargar demasiado el post.
Si tengo algunas objeciones puntuales, como que en Los Vengadores de 2012, cuando Brush Banner se transforma en Hulk y hace destrozos en el Helicarrier en el que se encuentran, sale de control y agrede a Natasha Romanoff, pero poco después en la batalla de Nueva York, dice que siempre está enojado y desata a Hulk a voluntad, de modo que parece tenerlo bajo control, siendo capaz incluso de salvar luego a Iron Man cuando este cae inconsciente desde el cielo. Eso me parece un poco incongruente, pero puedo dejarlo pasar.
Otro detalle que no me termina de agradar es que la fortaleza de Hulk parece ser siempre la misma y tener un límite, cuando en los comics este héroe tiene un nivel de fuerza mayor conforme su furia es más intensa, de modo que su fortaleza no tiene límite, puede siempre ser aún mayor en función del grado de estrés que este presentando. En este caso entiendo que se trata del cine y es necesario hacer algunos cambios para adaptar al personaje a ese medio.
Hasta allí todo bien, al menos los aspectos negativos son aceptables al compararlos con los positivos, pero en la tercera fase del UCM el trato dado a Hulk por los guionistas y demás creativos de esta saga ha sido muy perjudicial desde mi punto de vista. No voy a criticar su rol en Thor: Ragnarok, pues aunque pudo haber tenido un largometraje individual en que se adaptara mejor la historia de Planeta Hulk, no me parece mal lo hecho en ese caso.
His best moment

If I have some specific objections, like that in The Avengers of 2012, when Brush Banner transforms into the Hulk and wrecks the Helicarrier they are in, he gets out of control and attacks Natasha Romanoff, but shortly after in the battle of Nueva York, says that he is always angry and unleashes the Hulk at will, so that he seems to have him under control, being able to even save Iron Man later when he falls unconscious from the sky. That seems a bit incongruous to me, but I can let it slide.
Another detail that I do not like is that the Hulk's strength seems to always be the same and has a limit, when in the comics this hero has a greater force level as his fury is more intense, so that his strength does not have limit, it can always be even higher depending on the degree of stress you are presenting. In this case I understand that it is about cinema and it is necessary to make some changes to adapt the character to that medium.
So far so good, at least the negative aspects are acceptable when compared with the positive ones, but in the third phase of the MCU the treatment given to Hulk by the writers and other creatives of this saga has been very damaging from my point of view. I am not going to criticize his role in Thor: Ragnarok, because although he could have had an individual feature film in which the Planet Hulk story was better adapted, I do not think what was done in that case bad.

Su declive en la Fase 3
Lo que realmente si me causo mucha decepción y es de las pocas cosas, que no me agradaron de Vengadores: Infinity War y Vengadores: Endgame, es lo que hicieron con Hulk. Eso de huirle a la confrontación con Thanos no me gustó para nada (incluso si no fue por cobardía como afirmaron los guionistas), tampoco que tras la muerte de Natasha su reacción fuera tan ligera y que no haya tenido una revancha con Thanos, pero lo peor de todo es la lesión permanente en el brazo que sufrió por el chasquido.
Hulk posee un factor de regeneración y curación mucho más potente que el de Wolverine o el de Deadpool, su fortaleza física es muy elevada y además su poder proviene de los rayos gamma, entonces que sufra una lesión tan grave y permanente resulta difícil de aceptar, si es que precisamente por sus características era el más adecuado para realizar el chasquido y resultar ileso.
Otro problema es que lo volvieron dócil. No estoy en contra de que se haya presentado a la personalidad conocida como Profesor Hulk, que combina el intelecto de Banner con la fuerza física de Hulk, la verdad me parece bastante interesante, pero creo que debería estar en capacidad de desatar a Hulk en todo su esplendor cuando sea necesario, de modo que pueda pelear con el salvajismo que lo caracteriza.
Entiendo que Thanos incluso sin las gemas sea más poderoso que Hulk en el UCM, por tanto, si Thanos quedo tan lesionado tras sus chasquidos, entonces Hulk también debe estar lesionado. Pero igual me parece decepcionante su estado actual, sobre todo porque aún queda mucho que este personaje podría mostrar en el futuro.
Its decline in Phase 3
What really did cause me a lot of disappointment and is one of the few things that I didn't like about Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, is what they did with the Hulk. I didn't like that about running away from the confrontation with Thanos (even if it wasn't out of cowardice as the scriptwriters claimed), nor that after Natasha's death her reaction was so light and that she didn't have a rematch with Thanos, but it was Worst of all is the permanent injury to his arm that he sustained from the snap.

Another problem is that they made him docile. I'm not against introducing himself to the personality known as Professor Hulk, who combines Banner's intellect with Hulk's physical strength, I really find it quite interesting, but I think he should be able to unleash the Hulk in everything its splendor when necessary, so that it can fight with the savagery that characterizes it.
I understand that Thanos even without the gems is more powerful than the Hulk in the MCU, therefore, if Thanos was so injured after his clicks, then Hulk must also be injured. But I still find his current state disappointing, especially since there is still much that this character could show in the future.

Su futuro incierto
Es lamentable pensar que Hulk ahora con el brazo lesionado y esa nueva personalidad chistosa que posee no va a poder enfrentarse al Hulk Rojo, a Juggernaut, a Wolverine, entre otros grandes rivales, cuyos enfrentamientos en el cine habrían sido memorables. Esperemos que este tipo de acontecimientos se nos muestren en películas que sean precuelas de lo acontecido en Vengadores: Endgame.
Me gustaría que no concluyan tan pronto la interpretación de Mark Ruffalo dándole entrada a otra versión de Hulk, aunque es lo que me parece más probable que ocurra, en realidad ya es un hecho la realización de la serie de She-Hulk, que muy probablemente venga a reemplazar a Hulk en algún sentido. Además, con ese brazo lisiado es preferible que no lo pongan a luchar, a menos que lo recupere de alguna forma.
Una posibilidad que últimamente se ha convertido en rumor, es que además de She-Hulk (la versión femenina de Hulk) que es una prima de Banner a la que este le hace una transfusión de sangre y por tanto adquiere sus poderes, también va a aparecer en el UCM Amadeus Cho, un joven genio de origen coreano, que es hijo de la doctora Helen Cho, quien ya ha estado presente en la película Vengadores: era de Ultrón. Este chico cuyo alter ego es Brawn, cuando se transforma posee una apariencia y capacidades equiparables a las de Hulk, con la diferencia de poder controlar perfectamente sus acciones.
His future uncertain

I would like you not to conclude the interpretation of Mark Ruffalo so soon by giving entry to another version of Hulk, although it is what seems most likely to happen, in reality the realization of the She-Hulk series is already a fact, which most likely come replace Hulk in some sense. Also, with that crippled arm it is preferable that they do not put it to fight, unless it is recovered in some way.
A possibility that lately has become a rumor is that in addition to She-Hulk (the female version of Hulk) who is a cousin of Banner to whom he gives a blood transfusion and therefore acquires his powers, he is also going to appear in the MCU Amadeus Cho, a young genius of Korean origin, who is the son of Dr. Helen Cho, who has already been present in the movie Avengers: Age of Ultron. This boy whose alter ego is Brawn, when he transforms has an appearance and capabilities comparable to those of the Hulk, with the difference of being able to perfectly control his actions.

Motivos económicos
Volviendo al personaje de Brush Banner, sé que muchas de las cosas que le ha tocado sufrir a Hulk como personaje de la saga del infinito, han sido por causa de los derechos de distribución de sus películas individuales que están en manos de Universal, por lo que Disney y Marvel Studios han optado por no realizar películas en solitario del coloso esmeralda y así aprovechar su potencial de la forma más productiva para ellos.
Por otro lado, no es fácil conseguir un elevado ingreso en taquilla con una película únicamente sobre Hulk, cuando gran parte del público lo ve solo como un torpe gigante que aplasta cosas, eso unido a que su puesta en escena requiere un gran presupuesto para CGI, hace que la rentabilidad del proyecto represente un gran riesgo económico.
En definitiva, solo nos queda resignarnos y entender que no siempre se obtiene todo lo que como fanático se desea y que en el cine el factor económico es primordial, pues se trata de un negocio y si no hay ganancias para las productoras no hay grandes producciones.
Economic reasons
